Welcome to Border Meats Ltd official page. We are a family run business located in Lockerbie, specialising in a range of various beef, lamb and pork to whatever specification the customer requires. Currently supplying butchers, farm shops, catering companies, hotels and restaurants throughout Scotland and the North of England. With the introduction to Facebook our intentions is to expand

the business by offering a service to the general public selling meat boxes. Having a very close relationship with our customers is a key aspect that we pride ourselves in. Our primary objective is to combine and simplify the critical stages in the processing of livestock in order to ensure the highest quality locally produced meat is purchased by our customers with the added bonus of 100% traceability and minimal food miles.

Forage Rye all lifted around 583 tonne averaging 8.3/ acre.

This will act as a great feed source for us and has been a great "catch crop" inbetween both maize crops, it will provide a cost-effective bulk feed that supports high growth rates in our finishing cattle.

Straight on with the slurry today and then ploughing it towards the end of the week ready for maize again.

Potatoes 🥔

Potatoes are a great source for cattle feed being rich in starch, which provides a quick, digestible energy source for cattle especially useful for fattening animals.

Spuds are highly digestible for cattle as you can see compared to some grains and very easy for them to break down. They love the taste which in turn increases feed intake.

The reason why we can feed spuds normally is due to surplus product in the market or not good enough looking for the supermarkets or crips production.

Out on the farm with Ian in the lambing shed feeding the pet lambs and checking in on anything lambing.

Then out with dad feeding any sheep still due to lamb and checking in on the ewes and lambs that have been put out to the field.
