Huge thanks to Hackney Libraries Services who visited us recently. Jana and Lydia provided guests with lots of information on joining local libraries and what services are available there. Libraries have everything from chess and movie clubs to tea and coffee social groups. If you need somewhere to sit, use a computer or the internet, and of course if you want to chat to a staff member about borrowing books, pop into your local library! We so appreciate their visit, and are excited to welcome them back again soon!

Recently, Adam from Citizen’s Advice popped by to offer energy advice and support to our guests. This is part of a new initiative at St John’s. Guest feedback reads: Adam from Citizen’s advice was fantastic. He was as enthusiastic to help as I was for him to help me, which is rare. He cared. He helped me with my benefits. I told him - you’ve actually cheered me up today. He was kind to me. Good people, man - I love them.

Guest feedback reads: I was happy the man from Citizen’s Advice was able to help me register for a fuel voucher on the spot, and then he explained how I can top up my electricity key myself in future.

Guest feedback reads: The guy from Citizen’s Advice was so good. He was helpful and really knowledgeable. It can be hit or miss on the phone or a computer, but meeting him in person today was so good. We talked about my PIP and benefits. He even made a follow-up appointment for this Tuesday.

Recently, the group from GEP’s Social Initiatives team (led by Cayetana Oviedo) returned to cook with us again!

They cooked lots of nutritional fresh veggie food and made a variety of sweet desserts. 🥦🥕🌽🥧 We also really appreciated all the donated pantry items to our food bank - and our guests will too 🫶🏼 Thank you for donating your time once again!
