➡Swipe Right: Gewürztraminer

Flavour profile: aromatic, floral, lychee

Try if you like: riesling, viognier

Pair with: aromatic Vietnamese or Thai dishes

🦅🌭Dog Days Bank Holiday🍷🍺

10 days out from what's shaping up to be a deeply unnecessary, totally excellent encore of our Summer Solstice party.

The New Yorker returns to defend its title: sauerkraut, mustard, and a slightly smug sense of superiority. The Lee and The Tokyo Dog think they've got what it takes to dethrone it. We're not allowed to have an opinion on this. You are the jury.

New cocktails. Different wine pairings.
Same dressed beers, still in the can, still overachieving.

Expect tunes, Freddy in a cowboy hat he insists "is for the vibes", and, if we're lucky, temperatures that don't actively hate us.

For anyone new here, the rules:

• Walk-ins only, no reservations, no exceptions, no matter how nicely you ask. Come early or take your chances with the queue.
• Vegan dogs available, for those choosing the path of virtue.
• Ketchup is grounds for removal from the premises. We don't make the rules.
[We absolutely do. That is the rule.]

🌭🇺🇸Dog Days Bank Holiday🌭

Saturday, August 29
12pm - late
Walk-ins Only

Turns out when you bring a taste of the USA to Lee, people show up. So we're doing it again, and this time we're calling it what it is: the last hurrah of summer.

Last time The NYC Dog (kraut, mustard, does not mess about) walked away the champion, and it's back to defend its title. Standing in its way: two brand new challengers ready to fight for the crown. Full menu to follow, but let's just say things are about to get spicy. Literally.

🌭Battle of the hot dogs, round two. NYC is back and it's not here to make friends.
🍺Dressed beers, again. (Still not explaining. Google it.)
🥤Cocktails with main character energy.
🍷Wine pairings that will make you a smarter, better person. Probably.

Basically, expect hot dogs, cold drinks, a rematch nobody asked for but everybody wants, and one final excuse to pretend it's still summer before autumn ruins everything.

Still strictly no ketchup. Some things don't change.🌭

Swipe for the chaos from last time. Thanks to .photo for the incredible photos.

Full menu coming soon. Vegan dogs available.

➡Swipe Right: Cabernet Franc

History/regionality: the nepo-parent of Bordeaux grapes, Cab Franc has been displaced in popularity by its genetic offspring: Cab Sav & Merlot. But it has now found its home in the Loire Valley.

Flavour profile: red berries, bell pepper, fresh herbs

Try if you like: Pinot Noir or Merlot

Pair with: herby tomato-based sauces or roast lamb

Turns out you don't need an entire sustainability department to win a sustainability award. Who knew.

Steph recently won Sustainable Drinks Buyer of the Year at the London Wine Fair, sponsored by Decanter, up against outfits with teams, budgets, and probably a mission statement laminated somewhere. We just have opinions about where the wine comes from and a stubborn refusal to cut corners. The judges said it's baked into everything we do, not just a token gesture or two. We'd like to say we're shocked, but honestly we've been banging on about this since day one, so really it's just nice to finally have the paperwork to prove it.

Full story from in bio. Go read it, then come buy some wine from an award winning shop.

Swipe Right: Syrah aka Shiraz

History/regionality: This double-agent grape is known as Syrah throughout Europe & Shiraz in Australia & South Africa. It produces a deep-red, full-bodied wine that is more fruit-driven in warm climates & earthier when grown in Europe.

Flavour profile: dark berries, chocolate, spices

This is a starter-pack red wine grape. Try it.

Pair with: Indian tandoori or lamb shawarma

Find it in: Salvaje, Emiliana and Earthscape Shiraz, Pyren Vineyards

Swipe Right: Aligoté

History/regionality: say hi to 'the other Burgundy'. The lesser-known Aligoté is second to Chardonnay in France's Burgundy region. Resistant to cold, it's also popular in Eastern Europe's frostier climates.

Flavour profile: light-bodied yet interesting, apple/citrus/herbs

Try if you like: albariño

Pair with: shellfish

In a truly bone-headed bit of calendar management, we are flying back to the UK a day later than we thought.

Which means we won’t be back open until Thursday 9 July.

Apologies. Please accept this very real slice of Americana as penance.

History/regionality: the Portuguese Verdelho grape is used in traditional Madeira fortified wine. But it's still got its work cut out as a popular dry white wine grape across Australia, California & South Africa.

Flavour profile: citrus/pear, moderate acidity

Try if you like: chenin blanc, sauvignon blanc

Pair with: fish tacos
