Wine Salon Sessions: Wine and Women, 26 March

✨A beautiful beginning 🥂

I hosted an intimate evening centred around seven wines, each one telling a story of pioneering winemakers, bold thinkers, and women who refuse to take no for an answer. What stayed with me most was not only what was in the glass, but the conversation, the curiosity, and the connections formed around the table.

These gatherings are shaping the book I am writing, an exploration of hosting wine tastings and of experiencing wine through art, culture, and history. An invitation to enter the world of wine not through blind tastings and exams, but through story, setting, and shared experience.

📚the next Wine Salon Session, Wine and Literature, is fully booked.

A limited number of places remain for the forthcoming sessions:
🎨28 May ~Art
🌋25 June ~Landscape
🏺9 July ~History

I look forward to welcoming you to the next table.

Speaking of tables… a special thank you to , where I sourced many of the pieces that brought this tablescape to life.

📚It’s World Book Day and I’m finally sharing something I’ve been working on quietly. I’m writing a book.

It explores experiencing wine through the lens of art, history and culture. Looking beyond the glass to the stories, movements and moments that shape how we appreciate wine.

As part of the process, I’ll be hosting a series of wine evenings this spring and summer to explore these themes, test ideas and refine the wines that may appear in the book.

If you’d like to explore with me and be part of the creative process, you’re very welcome to join.

Details are on my website.

Round up from this weekend hosting an Old Vine Wine Masterclass for wine lovers🍷

✨ Ken Forrester Sparklehorse 2022 — Stellenbosch, South Africa
→ From 50-year-old Chenin Blanc vineyards, concentrated and elegant trad method bubbles.

🌿 Yalumba The Virgilius 2023 — Eden Valley, Australia
→ Viognier that was nearly extinct in the 1980s, saved largely thanks to this producer’s commitment.

🍇 Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino 2022 — Mendoza, Argentina
→ High-altitude Malbec from vines dating back to the 1930s, intensity shaped by elevation and time.

🔬 Château de Sabazan 2018 — Saint Mont, France
→ From Plaimont’s work reviving near-extinct indigenous grape varieties in southwest France.

🔥 Juan Gil Cuvée A 2022 — Jumilla, Spain
→ Ungrafted, unirrigated, organic 60-year-old vines, aged in oak and amphora — powerful and refined.

🖤 Feudi di San Gregorio Serpico 2016 — Campania, Italy
→ Aglianico from a vineyard 150–180 years old, planted before Italy was unified, with pre-phyllox vines reaching 2.5m high.

🍯 Estate Argyros Vin Santo 2014 — Santorini, Greece
→ Just 8,000 bottles from the 200+ year old Episkopi vineyard, planted under Ottoman rule when Santorini was already legendary for Vin Santo.

An afternoon of history, cultural stories, and appreciation for these irreplaceable heritage vineyards.

Happy Beaujolais Nouveau day!!🍷

The third Thursday of November marks the release of the first wine of the year.. a fresh, juicy, nouveau wine from grapes that were hanging on the vines 🍇 just a couple months ago. They’re fruity and delicious, a real vin de soif. 😋

If you want to learn more about Beaujolais, I’ve posted a big overview of the region, there’s a lot more than Nouveau to discover!

Now for the big question… who’s going out to celebrate tonight?
