The same vineyard, the same w**emaking team, a third of the price. 👇

A **e is a producer's own declassification of fruit that does not make the , the estate's flagship blend. It is not a lesser producer trying to copy a famous name. It is the same w**emaking team, the same vineyard and the same cellar, sold at a materially lower price.

Second w**es are built to drink sooner, and their scores tend to be lower. They also move further than their grand vins in both directions: Carruades de Lafite rose around 80% at its peak, against 40% for Lafite Rothschild, then fell 43% when the market turned, against the grand vin's 33%. That gap does not make second w**es a poor investment. It makes them a different one.

Our recent guide explains what defines a genuine second w**e, how their prices and liquidity compare with flagship bottlings, and where the model does not apply. Learn more here: https://tinyurl.com/2mxhwww9

Sotheby's sale of 676 lots shows demand concentrated in the estate's flagship w**e, the grand vin, and in older vintages and larger formats.

🍷 A double magnum of Haut-Brion 1989 sold for more than £48,000, likely a record for a post-war vintage of the estate.
🍷 More than half of the grand vin lots sold above 150% of their estimate midpoints, against 8% or fewer across every other w**e in the sale.
🍷 Second w**es made up only 38.2% of the sale but accounted for 62.2% of all unsold lots.

A single estate rarely gives this clear a picture of where demand sits.

Our latest article covers what Sotheby's results tell investors about a recovery led by quality and scarcity rather than broad **eInvestment demand across the board.

Our Q3 2026 Fine W**e Market Report is now live!

Q3 2026 was defined less by what fine w**e did on its own terms than by two external forces testing how the market prices reputation. launched its first producer ratings under its own name, while the autumn release campaign gave buyers another reminder that the search for price discipline has become the market's defining behaviour.

Key findings inside this report:

📈 The recovery is broadening: made up just 20% of Q3’s top 10 performers, with , *****ne, the Rhône and Italy all featuring.
📊 Older vintages continue to lead: nine of the top 10 performers were from 2018 or earlier.
👉 Buyers remain focused on value: new releases priced above comparable back vintages generally met resistance.
🍇 entered w**e criticism: its new producer ratings bring significant reach, although we have not yet seen a clear impact on prices.
🍷Our outlook has improved: W**eCap’s view heading into Q4 is the most positive it has been since the end of 2023.

As the Northern Hemisphere's 2026 grape harvest draws to a close, producers from *****ne to California are cutting yields deliberately to protect prices.

🍇The Northern Hemisphere's is drawing to a close, with smaller yields driven by an unusually hot, dry growing season.
🍇 recorded 6 days above 40°C in 2026, more than the total across the previous 105 years.
🍇France is on course for its smallest **eHarvest since 1957.

The story this harvest tells isn't only about the weather. In region after region, producers and trade bodies have chosen to cut yields deliberately rather than simply absorb what the season gave them. This also represents deliberate choices being made in the name of supply management.

W**e critics do not just describe a w**e; they help set its price. 👇

Scores and attention from a trusted voice can lift demand for an obscure appellation, w**e or producer. A poor score can have the opposite effect, and different critics carry authority in different regions.

This guide sets out why critic opinion matters to **eInvestors, traces how professional w**e criticism developed into its modern form, and profiles the critics, magazines and platforms that carry the most weight today.

James Suckling has named Eredi Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino 2021 the top w**e in his **es of Italy 2026, calling 2021 one of the best Brunello vintages in twenty years.

🍷More than 20% of the w**es across Suckling's last five Top 100 Italy reports have been from 2021, a higher percentage than any other vintage.
🍷Independent scoring from other critics shows broad consensus on the 2021 vintage in Italy.

**e has also held its value better than any other major region since prices peaked in 2022, falling the least and recovering first. Our latest article covers what that combination of critical consensus and market resilience means for a **eInvestment portfolio.

If you’re thinking of investing in fine w**e, there are good reasons to add 2016s to portfolios now. Critical opinion is set, and some prices are down significantly from their peaks. 📉

The quality of releases from a given year shapes the odds of a good investment, but it does not decide the outcome. A strong vintage lifts the quality floor, improving the odds that any single w**e performs well. At ten years old, 2016 is still a young, actively traded vintage – many of its w**es will have decades of life in front of them still.

Our latest guide sets out where the 2016 delivered, where it fell short, and what that means for investors now: https://tinyurl.com/5n8acz7r

MICHELIN Guide W**e ratings debut with a reach no critic can match, but an uncertain impact for investors.

🍇 Michelin has launched its first w**e ratings under its own name, scoring and producers on a one-to-three “bunch” scale rather than reviewing individual w**es.
🍇 Michelin’s platforms attract roughly 12.5 million monthly website visitors, compared with 100,000 for Jamessuckling.com and 30,000 for RobertParker.com, the two largest w**e review websites.
🍇 The data on Michelin’s market impact is genuinely uncertain, and it is far too early for investors to call any significant effect on prices.
