Today I got a reminder from Alexa that Christmas is just 100 days away. 🎄 One of the most loved celebrations in the Knight household — and usually, that countdown would have me thinking about decorations already.
But today, my next thought was: this will be our first Christmas without Daddy.
I haven’t shared this here yet, but we lost my dad early August. I’ve struggled to find the words, and honestly, I still don’t really know where to start.
I was gearing up to finally get this page going, and Daddy encouraged me every day. Then he became unwell, and everything understandably took a back seat. After losing him, finding my way back to something I’d been excited about has felt strange.
I wish he were here to see me finally restarting.
That’s something I’m discovering about losing a parent: even the things you look forward to can suddenly remind you of who’s missing.
I still love Christmas. I still want the lights, the food, our little traditions and the excitement on my little one’s face. I’m just learning how to carry the sadness alongside all of that.
I’ll share bits of that here, when I find the words — alongside family life, food, travels and all the things I’d always wanted this page to be. And, inevitably, a few of Daddy’s opinions. He had plenty. ❤️
This is for you, Daddy. You kept encouraging me to start. I wish I could tell you, “I finally did it.”
As you would say, “Suno sabki, karo apni.” 🤍
