🐝 Most people think bees simply eat pollen.

But raw pollen alone is actually difficult for honey bees to digest.
So the hive transforms it.

Worker bees mix collected pollen with nectar, honey, enzymes, and beneficial microbes, then store it in comb cells where it begins a natural fermentation process.

The result is bee bread.
A nutrient-rich food source packed with proteins, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats that help raise the next generation of bees.

Without it:
• Brood production slows
• Colony growth is reduced
• Spring build-up becomes more difficult

-Honey provides energy.
-Bee bread builds the colony.

The hive reminds us of something important:
Growth needs more than fuel.
It needs proper nutrition.

As beekeepers, we only harvest a small surplus and only at certain times of the year, ensuring our bees always have the resources they need to thrive.

Healthy bees come first. Always.

🐝 Our first swarm of 2026 – West Kingsdown!

Nature never gets old… today we witnessed our first bee swarm of the season, right here in West Kingsdown 🌼

A swarm might look scary, but it’s actually one of the most natural and beautiful moments in a colony’s life. This is how bees reproduce and grow—sending out a new queen to start a fresh colony.

As a beekeeper, moments like this remind me why I love what I do ❤️
