A few recent food recommendations. Places I almost skipped, but all of them worth going to.
Kin Café
The menu never sounded exciting to me, which turned out to be a big mistake. One of the most enjoyable breakfasts I have had in ages. The portion was so generous and properly filling without feeling heavy. Simple food done very well.
Café at Chelsea Physic Garden
One of our best discoveries last year. The garden itself is incredibly peaceful and feels like stepping out of London for a moment. The café fits that mood perfectly. There are plenty of vegan options and they are all well thought through. The vegan feta and spinach börek was one of the best pastries I have ever eaten.
Busaba
I so underestimated it. Falafel and hummus do not sound particularly exciting to lots of vegans, but here they really are. This ended up being one of the best restaurants I have visited recently and another reminder that familiar dishes can still surprise you!
Sarv’s Slice, Ealing
Detroit-style pizza that really delivers. Even if you live far away, it is worth the trip. One of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. Crisp base, generous toppings, very, very satisfying. I do wish there were more vegan options, but the one they offer is genuinely great.
Donutelier
It is always good to see popular places taking vegan options seriously rather than treating them as an afterthought. The pastries were genuinely delicious and not a compromise in any way. We will definitely be back.
ScandiKitchen Café & Shop
I am an easy sell when it comes to anything Scandinavian, and this did not disappoint. A lovely, relaxed atmosphere and very good cake. I also left with a few things from the shop, which was probably inevitable.
