Last night we had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive client evening at our office at The Shard, bringing together a great group of investors for an evening of tasting with One Cask at a Time

Guided by Jamie Morrison , Brand Ambassador for One Cask at a Time, guests had the chance to taste directly from the cask and hear first-hand what makes single cask whisky such a compelling asset class.

This is what we love most about what we do at VCL. Whisky investment starts with understanding what is in the cask and why it matters. There is nothing quite like tasting that for yourself.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us. It was a genuinely special evening.

The US just reopened for Scotch whisky. Here's why cask holders are paying attention.

Last week, Trump lifted the 10% import tariff on Scotch and scrapped a further 25% surcharge on single malts that was due back this spring. The industry had lost an estimated £150m over the past year. That headwind is gone.

But the story is bigger than one announcement. Three of the world's largest whisky markets are opening simultaneously. The pool of mature casks only ever shrinks. And the exit environment for long-term cask holders just got considerably stronger.

Swipe to understand what changed, and what it means at the asset level.

There's more young whisky available right now. But is there more 10 year old? More 25 year old?

No. Because you can't go back and produce what wasn't laid down.
What looks like overproduction today could be a smart opportunity to buy liquid at a young age, knowing that supply will tighten over the next decade.

It's about getting in early.

Over 70 distilleries. £1 billion in maturing stock. Sold in 35 markets worldwide. The English Distillery has taken two World's Best titles at the World Whiskies Awards, and White Peak Distillery's Wire Works was just named Whisky of the Year at The Whisky Exchange, beating Scotch in a blind tasting.

This week is English Whisky Week. Worth raising a glass.

India is the largest whisky consuming nation in the world. But with a 150% tariff on imports, access to that market was limited.

Now, with tariffs slashed to 75% and set to drop further, the opportunity is opening up.

At VCL, we source casks with these shifts in mind. Which brands, which age statements, which markets will be ready to buy in 5 to 10 years.
It's about thinking ahead.

Vietnam has been registered as one of the fastest growing whisky markets in the world.
With a rapidly expanding middle class and rising demand for quality Scotch, the opportunity is clear. And that's exactly why sourcing the right casks matters.
At VCL, we're always thinking 5 to 10 years ahead. Which brands, which age statements, which markets will be ready to buy.
It's a dynamic time in whisky.

Featured in City AM this week, our founder Benjamin Lancaster shares how VCL has spent 15 years transforming the whisky cask market from handshake deals and paper records into a transparent, digitally managed asset class.

From building dedicated client portals and launching our new app, to facilitating the record-breaking $2.33m Macallan cask sale in 2021, VCL has consistently pushed for institutional-grade trust in an industry that historically thrived on opacity.

Today, we manage over 16,000 casks valued in excess of £150m for more than 2,000 clients worldwide. And with One Cask at a Time, our independent bottling line, we're deepening our commitment to whisky culture, not just whisky investment.

We also remain proud to support the next generation through the VCL Foundation's bursaries with The Drinks Trust, helping over 80 people across the sector retrain or upskill each year.

Huge congratulations to The English on their fantastic win at the World Whiskies Awards.

Taking home the title in the Small Batch Single Malt category is a brilliant achievement and a testament to the quality coming out of the distillery. It was a pleasure to see the team recognised for their hard work and dedication to the craft.

Oversupply or opportunity? Depends on how you look at it.
In the 1980s, too much liquid nearly broke the industry. But if you were sitting on those casks today? You'd be pretty happy. The market is bigger now. The investment layer is stronger. And more availability doesn't have to mean bad news. It can mean better access, better pricing and better opportunities for those willing to think long term.

Jim Beam halting production for 2026. Shock headline or strategic move?
When you look beyond the noise, it starts to make sense. And it's exactly why we don't just look at one region or one style. Bourbon, Tennessee whiskey, Scotch. Where some see alarm, we see a market managing itself.
