Sun, sand and a cup of Assam’s finest ☀️

Second flush Assam black tea just hits differently—rich, malty, full-bodied, with that deep amber colour and smooth finish. Ours is harvested between May and June from our family gardens in Pengeri, Assam, and processed right there, so it keeps all its character.

It’s the kind of tea that works however you like it—plain or with a splash of milk. For me, today it’s by the sea, watching a sandcastle slowly take shape.

Loose leaf tea is quietly finding its way back into everyday life.

As life becomes increasingly busy, many of us are learning to pause — to create small, meaningful rituals in our day. For tea drinkers, that ritual often begins with a better cup of tea.

More people are now moving beyond standard tea bags, seeking teas with clear provenance, better leaf quality, and a deeper connection to where they are grown.

Because loose leaf tea isn’t just different in format — it allows the leaf to fully unfurl, releasing layered flavours, aroma and character that create a more complete tea experience.

From bold, malty Assam black teas to fresh green teas and aromatic blends like Earl Grey, choosing the right loose leaf tea can transform how you experience tea every day.

If you’re looking for the best loose leaf tea to buy online in the UK, we’ve put together a detailed guide on what truly matters — from origin and harvest to craftsmanship and freshness.

Looking for a Mother’s Day gift that feels thoughtful, personal and quietly luxurious?
Tea makes a beautiful choice — comforting, mindful and woven into the everyday moments she cherishes.

This year, consider gifting her something that lasts longer than flowers and feels more meaningful than the usual chocolates. A well‑chosen tea becomes part of her morning rituals, her slow afternoons, her peaceful evening wind‑downs — a gift that brings comfort long after Mother’s Day has passed.

Our favourite picks for Mother’s Day:
• Assam Second Flush Black Tea Gift Caddy — rich, golden and beautifully presented.
• Assam Green Tea Gift Caddy — smooth, uplifting and perfect for a gentle recharge.
• Herbal infusions like chamomile, hibiscus or blue tea — calming, caffeine‑free and ideal for relaxation.

Thoughtful doesn’t need to be extravagant. It just needs to be intentional.
And a cup of tea chosen with care says: I know what you love. I chose this just for you.

First Flush vs Second Flush — What Makes Them So Different?

Tea lovers often talk about “flushes,” but what does it actually mean? A flush is simply the time of year the tea leaves are harvested — and it completely transforms the flavour in your cup.

First Flush (Spring Harvest)
These are the very first tender leaves of the season, picked from late February to April. They’re young, delicate, and packed with natural antioxidants. First Flush teas brew into a light, bright cup with floral, grassy notes — the pure taste of early spring.

Second Flush (Summer Harvest)
Picked from May to June, these leaves have soaked up more sun and rain, giving them a fuller, richer character. Second Flush teas are bold, smooth, and often have fruity or malty notes — especially in Assam — with a deeper colour and rounder flavour.

At Dehing Tea, we handpick every leaf from our family gardens in Upper Assam, crafting both flushes with care so you can taste the season in every sip.

Which one suits your mood today — fresh and floral or bold and malty?

Blue Tea has a quiet kind of charm — the kind that comes from real ingredients and simple rituals.

Our Blue Tea begins its journey in the hills — with freshly picked Shankhpushpi flowers, vibrant, delicate, and naturally blue. These whole blossoms are tucked into biodegradable tea bags so every cup feels pure, simple, and close to the earth.

Brew it, watch the colour settle, and then add a squeeze of lemon or lime.
The blue shifts to a soft purple — a small moment of change that always feels good to see.

Loose Leaf Tea vs Tea Bags: Which should you choose?

Is loose leaf tea really better than tea bags — or is that just a myth?

The truth: quality matters more than format.

Loose leaf tea offers depth, control and ritual. Tea bags offer convenience and consistency. What truly shapes flavour is the quality of the leaf, how it’s processed, and how it’s allowed to brew — not whether it’s loose or bagged.

At Dehing Tea, we use the same quality Assam tea in both formats. Our pyramid-shaped tea bags give the leaves room to unfurl, so convenience never comes at the cost of flavour.

Choose loose leaf when you want time, ritual and flexibility
Choose tea bags when life is busy but you still want real tea
Many tea drinkers use both — and that’s perfectly fine

There’s no rulebook. Just honest tea that fits your life.
