The Wholegood Fresh team had a brilliant day visiting Clive and Tobias Martin at โ€” even if it turned out to be one of the hottest days of the season! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ

Driving up to the farm, we were greeted by a huge sign reading โ€œNo Farmers, No Foodโ€ โ€” a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting growers as we navigate changing world politics and the future of food production.

Our visit was invaluable, giving us the chance to learn more about the incredible work, care, and expertise behind the produce we use every day.

Swipe through to see asparagus season in full swing! Tobias told us how quickly they grow in this sunshine and heat, with tender stem broccoli harvest beginning this week ๐Ÿฅฆ

Hot bright sunshine ๐ŸŒž means itโ€™s time for refreshing salads ๐Ÿฅ— that feed your soul and feast your eyes. Our organic heirloom tomato varieties ๐Ÿ… offer an exciting choice of flavours, textures, colours and forms to choose from - just look at these beauties! ๐Ÿ‘€

Fleshy and flavoursome, our organic heirlooms are a mix of ๐Ÿฆ‹ โ€˜open-pollinatedโ€™ ๐Ÿ varieties such as Cotelee Marmande, Black Tula, Saint Pierre and more. They are all grown in non-artificially-heated greenhouses in Roussillon, where the naturally hot โ˜€๏ธ and windy climate is perfect for growing tomatoes. ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…

The final plate in our perfectly paired series with Rapscallion Soda โ€“ where we created quick plates to perfectly complement each soda flavour!

And weโ€™re ending with a bang: the ๐Ÿ‹ Burnt Lemon ๐Ÿ‹ . Its bright, tart notes unfold into a deep, complex finish, perfectly matched by Unnamed Supperclubโ€™s incredible take on Sicilian Trapani pesto pasta. ๐Ÿ

Using fresh organic produce from Wholegood, they balanced the sodaโ€™s citrus tartness with the rich umami of almonds and fried eggplant ๐Ÿ† , then layered in brightness from vine-ripened tomatoes ๐Ÿ… and fresh basil pesto. Everything was finished with a generous squeeze of charred lemon ๐Ÿ‹ , its sour yet caramelised smokiness tying beautifully back to the soda itself. Yum!!

Bountiful sunshine, the sound of laughter and smokey meats charring to perfection. Weโ€™ve started to smell the inviting aromas wafting in the air the barbecues turn on for the season. But thereโ€™s no sizzle without the sides. Juicy, fresh veggies finish the perfect plate with crunch, colour and plenty of flavour!

Weโ€™re offering a 15% bundle discount if you buy a box each of mixed peppers, red onions, mushrooms, courgettes, corn cobs and garlic ๐Ÿซ‘๐Ÿง…๐Ÿ„โ€๐ŸŸซ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿง„

And weโ€™re back with another ๐ŸŒž Rapscallion soda recipe - another perfectly paired plate ๐Ÿฅ— for summer, this time with Unnamed Supperclub. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

The Dry Lime ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ is crisp, with a full finish, so Nnenna and Elliot paired the sodaโ€™s bright zingy notes with charred courgette ๐Ÿฅ’ on a bed of whipped feta made nuttier with hazelnuts and tahini. All finally topped with the best mint and charred chilli ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ dressing that is both sharp and smoky, perfectly complementing the sodaโ€™s sharp, citrus edge and pulling the flavours into a melodious symphony on the plate.

Picnic season is around the corner, so get cooking and enjoy this recipe with a few cold cans! ๐Ÿงบ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒป

Wild asparagus is a more season-sensitive variety of asparagus. Often confused with regular green asparagus, this variety is noticeably more varied in its thickness, with bunches often including charming pencil-thin stalks. This uncultivated variety is more intense in flavour and offers grassier, more herbaceous notes.

Photographed here is our wild asparagus - all the way from in the fertile fenlands, along with some gorgeous shiitake and garlic.

Aaaand weโ€™re ready with our second recipe with and this time responding to their Ginger with its โ€œfiery throat kickโ€ ๐Ÿซš

Spicy, tingly and crisp - Emma paired the sodaโ€™s notes with a herby and creamy pastry topped with umami mushrooms and grassy asparagus. Thereโ€™s some juiced Wholegood ginger added in there to cook the veggies off so that they add a punch to the kick from the soda pairing. ๐ŸฅŠ

Our organic asparagus is fresh from the fenlands at and is available across and ๐Ÿ›’ ๐Ÿ›’ ๐Ÿ›’

Red Batavia is here! These seasonal lettuce heads feature bunched leaves that are easily recognised by their wavy edges and heavily puckered appearance. While they are mostly light bright green in colour, some varietals bring red-brown pigments. Perfect in salads and wraps, Batavia is less crunchy than the iceberg, but has a more earthy, green flavour.
