📍 Kasa and Kin
If you’re craving bold Filipino flavours, warm hospitality, and the vibrant spirit of the Philippines—Kasa and Kin in the heart of Soho brings it all together. We stopped by for dinner, and from the first sizzling plate to the final spoonful of dessert, it was a full-on tribute to Filipino culinary heritage.
🍽️ What we ordered:
• Beef Ribeye Steak Beef Pares – served Pampanga style chopped meat, onions & spices
• Pakbet – vegetables sautéed in shrimp paste (bagoong)
• Laing – slow-cooked taro leaves in coconut milk
• Ube Brownie Sundae
• Halo-Halo
🥩 Beef Ribeye Steak Pares
Was served Sisig style, served on a sizzling and stayed hot throughout. Tender, juicy ribeye slices bursting with that unmistakable sweet-savoury richness, crispy on the edges, and glazed in a bold soy-garlic sauce. A modern, elevated take on a street classic, we ordered garlic fried rice to ‘Pair’ with it! —proper Filipino comfort food.
🥬 Pakbet & Laing
Filipino veg at its finest. The Pakbet packed deep umami from the bagoong, balancing freshness and funk, while the Laing was rich, earthy, and warming. The taro leaves were slow-cooked to perfection in creamy coconut milk, lifted by ginger, garlic, and just enough chilli heat. These sides aren’t just extras, they’re essential.
🍨 Dessert: a celebration of ube and nostalgia.
The Ube Brownie Sundae was indulgence in every bite: chewy ube brownie, ube ice cream noodles, topped with sweet purple syrup and white pearl chocolates. As for the Halo-Halo? Cold, colourful, and proudly Filipino. A layered treat that captures everything from our tropical sweetness to our love of mixing flavours and textures. It’s a dessert that tells a story.
📝 What stood out?
The energy and hospitality. From the friendly, attentive service, big thanks to Hitomi, to the warm, modern space that still feels connected to Filipino culture, Kasa and Kin nails the balance. Most of all, the food speaks proudly of its roots. It’s expressive, made for sharing, and unapologetically Filipino.
👎 What could be better?
The menu might be unfamiliar to those new to Filipino cuisine, but the team are more than happy to guide you through. And really that’s part of the experience.
✅ Would I go back?
Without a doubt. The mains are impressive, but it’s the depth of the sides and the nostalgia-laced desserts that will keep me returning.
