More exciting producers to be joining us next Sunday the 6th July at Bedrock form the Languedoc in the sunny south of France:
1 - Domaine Hors Ciel, Minervois - Founded in 2021 by Emma Olson and Victor Gourreau, Domaine Hors Ciel is the result of a cross-cultural partnership between an American and a native of Montouliers in the south of France. The project began humbly, in a tiny, off-grid cellar, with a bold vision: to craft uncompromisingly pure wines using spontaneous fermentations, no temperature control, no additives, and as little intervention as possible.
Emma and Victor now farm 6 hectares of mostly indigenous varieties. Their focus is on single-variety wines that reflect the nuance of site and soil. Emma and Victor remain committed to their original ethos—wines of clarity, precision, and soul, shaped by nature, not by intervention.
2 - Domaine Boris Jefferies, Caux - Joe Jefferies somehow fell accidentally into winemaking. He came from Warwickshire to the south of France just over a decade to go to help his Dad do up an old house. He then fell in love with a local and decided to stay. Bowled over by some of the local pioneer natural winemakers and having inherited a small plot of Grenache Blanc from his father in law he decided to start winemaking himself. After a couple dabbles in 2011 and 2012 he properly began producing in 2013.
Joe’s wines are now absolutely iconic in the natural wine scene particularly to drinkers familiar with the vignerons of the south of France. His wines are utterly uncompromising, sometimes wild but always pure and vibrant.
3 - Le Clos des Jarres, Minervois - after studying winemaking in the Alsace Vivien Hemelsdael moved back to Minervois and took over his parents’ 23 hectare vineyard. No mean feat for a man in his 20s! First thing he did was convert the vineyard to fully organic and biodynamic and he’s been producing beautiful and elegant wines from this limestone terroirs ever since.
Vivien’s wines perfectly capture the power and concentration of his warm sun drenched climate and terroir whilst displaying an elegance, balance and touch of freshness which is often rare for wines from hot climates.
