One of the most famous food and wine pairings is actually wrong. Red wine will usually overwhelm the cheese, especially if it’s soft and creamy. White wine is SO much more versatile when it comes to pairing. But hey. No snobbery around here so pair with what your heart desires.

Forget sticky stereotypes 🍊 Moscatel isn’t always sweet.

This one is dry, fresh, and full of salty Mediterranean sunshine - basically everything we want from a bottle when the sun’s out.

It’s aromatic and playful, but finishes dry and clean, which makes it wildly useful with food. Impressive stuff.

The Good People Behind The Wine: Mas de l’Abundància ✨

Some wineries have history. Others have fresh ideas. Mas de l’Abundància has both.

Nestled between Montsant and Priorat, this remarkable estate has been growing vines since the 15th century. Today, Ryan Vanderpol and Nikki Katsutani are continuing that story, bringing fresh energy while staying true to the traditions and character of this extraordinary piece of land.

Working alongside winemaker Edouard Chevalier, they farm sustainably and craft small-production wines that let the vineyards do the talking. Think bold Garnatxa, characterful Carinyena and wines with real personality.

At GWGP, we’re always looking for producers who care as much about how their wines are made as how they taste. Mas de l’Abundància is exactly that.

Next up in Wine & Cheese Pairing 101 is our beloved Nestor Halbturn Blanc 2022 🍑

A blend with a bit of everything - good acidity, minerality and a creamy texture. Plenty of peaches, golden apples and subtle notes of vanilla and butterscotch.
Absolutely smashing with a buttery Gorwydd Caerphilly. Give it a go!
