What is Cordyceps Mushroom?
Cordyceps, also known as the caterpillar fungus, is a medicinal mushroom which was once exclusively reserved for use by the Chinese Royal Family. This powerful mushroom has a small, thin fruiting body, and it grows at high altitudes in China and Tibet. Legend has it that the indigenous people of Tibet would take their yaks to the high altitudes of the Himalayas. Once there, the yaks would eat cordyceps from the ground and show great strength and vitality despite the vast distances that they had to travel. The people of Tibet started to prepare and digest these powerful mushrooms and noticed an increase in stamina along with a decrease in respiratory related issues.
What Are the Health Benefits Of Cordyceps Mushrooms?
One of the most famous health benefits of cordyceps is its ability to promote vitality and improve athletic performance. In the 1993 Beijing Athletic Games, three world records were broken by the Chinese track and field team who were trained under Mr. Ma Jun Ren. Drug tests were issued, but the results showed there were no traces of illegal substances. The secret behind the team's success was revealed to be a cordyceps mushroom elixir which helped to naturally improve their performance and aerobic capacity.
Cordyceps is packed full of nutritional goodness including vitamin B1, C, nucleic acid, amino acids, polysaccharides, beta-glucans and trace elements. Modern research suggests that cordyceps may also help to support the healthy functioning of the lungs and kidneys, promote vitality and strengthen the immune system.
