We understand that for a w**e list to work well, it needs to deliver quality and value at all price points. Yet this is often hardest to achieve at the entry point of the list: those w**es that set the tone for what guests should expect and ensure everyone can enjoy a really damn good w**e regardless of budget.
In the late 90s and early 00s, that was as big a challenge as it is now, so we set out to solve it. Instead of looking for something that didnโt exist (at least not to the standard we needed), we began working with Cantina Valpantena, just north of Verona, to make those w**es for ourselves with the help of Matt Thomson (one half of Blank Canvas W**ery ใNew Zealand).
Nearly 30 years later, the project is still going strong, and weโve made so many fantastic vintages of these incredible value w**es, still aided by Matt, using brilliant fruit from talented growers in partnership with the Cantina.
Sometimes it takes as much work, if not more, to get the entry level right as it does the w**es we offer beyond that! But it entirely worth it ๐
