Passion for Baking

Passion for Baking I love baking and this is a chance for me to share my bakes with everyone. Try them out!

I am an Aussie living in Surrey, UK, and I find it really interesting to take trips down memory lane, recreating my own childhood favourites, but also some British ones for my husband too. And of course, I hope to inspire my own son to love baking too - he has his own Masterchef Aus apron and hat! I have always dabbled in the kitchen, but it's really only been the last few years that I have taken it further and made a proper hobby out of baking. Most of it was born from the need to make dairy/egg/nut free bakes for my son, so he could also enjoy treats like other children. Now that he can have egg and butter in cakes and biscuits, I have been able to expand my baking without leaving him out. I do still make things he can't eat, but I always make sure there is something in reserve for him too! I hope you can enjoy my posts, and use my blog as a reference point for your own baking. I really consider everything I post, with the intention that the recipes are achievable for all!

Today I spent a lovey few hours in the kitchen making these yoyo biscuits from Sweet by Helen Goh and Yotam Ottolenghi I changed the filling to strawberry and they are just to die for. The biscuits are as light as a feather, with custard powder in them, very much like a ‘custard cream’ (but so much better!) Truly, they’re simply delicious!

I’ve gone back to the simple, yet delicious, recipe from as it’s so easy to make and you can add in anything at the end you’d like. Today I used a whole bag of frozen blueberries (as I made a double batch to share with some neighbours). They took about 20mins to cook on 160°C fan forced oven.

Continuing my range of new icecream flavours made with our Creami, I present you with dairy free Strawberry Icecream. It’s so tasty - we always make dairy free due to my son’s allergies. I also always use the Ninja Test Kitchen recipes are they’re so simple and there’s a huge range to choose from. I think this is my second fav after raspberry so far!

I haven’t made this recipe for years, but I wanted to take something different to my friend, ’ birthday party last night. This ‘looks’ like a cheesecake but in fact there’s no cream cheese in sight! Instead, it’s full of calories and flavour! I turned around last night to have some and it was completely gone- always a nice sight to see. The recipe is in my bio & uses just six ingredients! Have a go for your next get together.

It was ANZAC Day yesterday in Australia and New Zealand. I was flying so couldn’t bake but this morning I have baked a batch of our favourite biscuits: ANZAC Biscuits. Such simple, yet delicious biscuits made of only a few ingredients: oats, coconut, flour, brown sugar, butter and golden syrup (& a small amount of bi-carb of soda). They’re really the simplest biscuits to make and loved by so many. We make these to commemorate those who have fought, and also died, for our country. Lest we forget. 🇦🇺

Happy Easter to you all (if you celebrate Easter!) There’s no baking for me this year as I don’t have a kitchen at the moment, so here’s my favourite bunny filled with my fav Easter treat, mini eggs. Saying that, my actual fav treat might be hot cross buns, and this year we have discovered chocolate hot cross buns which are absolutely amazing, especially if you buy them on Thursdays when freshly baked! However you celebrate, enjoy the time with family and friends: happy Easter!🐣🐰🪺

The cutest little Easter jars now adorn my shelf filled to the brim with Easter treats. And the best part? It wasn’t easy getting those mini eggs in there so it’s also hard to get them out without them spilling everywhere! Perfect for portion control! These cost £6.00 each from and the quality is excellent!
