This week, we’re celebrating one of Britain’s most cherished traditions.
Did you know afternoon tea was born in the 1840s when Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, began enjoying tea and light refreshments to bridge the long gap between lunch and dinner? What started as a simple afternoon moment soon became a fashionable social occasion and has since evolved into one of England’s most iconic culinary experiences.
Today, Afternoon Tea Week celebrates the heritage of this wonderful tradition and also the simple elegance behind it. From perfectly brewed teas and delicate finger sandwiches to warm scones, exquisite pastries and the timeless joy of bringing people together.
Perhaps one of our favourite parts... it’s one of the few occasions that still encourages us to dress up, slow down and make an afternoon feel truly special. A beautiful outfit, a stunning setting, wonderful company and of course an exceptional pot of tea. ☕🤍

We are delighted to announce that the magnificent Cliveden House will be joining us for the National Tea Moment on 13th June. ☕✨👑

Few places in Britain are so intrinsically woven into our nation’s history, heritage and royal story. For centuries, has welcomed royalty, statesmen and society’s most distinguished guests, making it a truly fitting setting to mark what would have been Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s centennial year.

On 13th June, guests will have the opportunity to take part in the National Tea Moment whilst enjoying the exquisite Cliveden & The Crown Afternoon Tea, a beautifull experience inspired by royal tradition, timeless elegance and the art of British hospitality.

As the nation pauses together at 2pm to raise a cup of tea in a gesture of unity, reflection and connection, there can be few more special places to do so than within the grandeur of Cliveden House.
