Everything that went right and wrong in Birmingham Free From Festival 🥹👇
It was our first time out of London and we were scared like crazy to drive and prepare everything. We knew we had some audience there, but we had no idea how many people would actually show up 🫣
We pre-baked some of our pastries in London so they could survive the long journey and brought our own fridge and oven with us too. I was finishing the baking on site, as well as making creams, so people were actually getting freshly finished pastries 👩🍳
I’m still not sure whether this was a genius idea or a horrendous one, considering how busy it got… but it worked.
And then Saturday happened…
We sold out of ALL our products for that day. We ran out of ALL the boxes and packaging. The queue was going across the field. It was honestly crazy 🤪
I’m so, so grateful to every single person who came to see us, try our pastries and wait in those huge queues throughout the day. It was probably one of the most unreal experiences we’ve had recently, and I really hope you enjoyed your pastries as much as we enjoyed making them for you ❤️
Also, remember when we said in our last post that we were definitely going to forget something?
We didn’t 💅
But we did miscalculate how many boxes we needed, so we ran out on the first day. Thank God for amazing Poets Bakery and Fakery Cakery for lending us their boxes so we could actually serve everyone. Otherwise, I genuinely don’t know what we would’ve done - probably would hand out pastries straight into people’s hands 😂
Another huge thank you to Margarita, Morgan and the whole team. You were some of the first people to believe in us. When we were scared that we were too small and wouldn’t be ready to do such a big festival, you encouraged us to go for it and believed that we could!
And I guess the moral of the story is: sometimes you just have to take a chance, and you might grow 🌸
And now the big question…
Should we go to Manchester Free From? 👀
