This morning the kids went back to school. The twins start secondary - where has time gone????? Mixed emotions on this end - we’ll miss them but not gonna lie it’s also nice to have our mornings back 🤪 more importantly, as we took their annual picture by the door in their new school uniform, we felt so proud of them for how resilient and how adaptable they’ve been in the past two years. This is the second school we’ve moved them to in a space of two years and they’ve been so strong and positive (with the expected nerves of course). We’ve had lots of hiccups in the two years we’ve been here but overall we can’t complain. The girls have been incredible at adapting to change, a skill I hope will help them in life, and we are happy to start our third year in Portugal with all three going to the same school (no more Two schools into opposite directions 🤪). 15 years married today! Feels like 50 🤪 but in the best way possible 🙌🏻 I can’t actually remember my life before Mike messaged me on a dating app I was on for exactly a month and asked me out. I said “no” because I didn’t like his profile picture 😂 then a few months later he contacted me on FB (stalker) and asked me out again. I still wasn’t keen but when he told me he was an acting agent and since I had just finished acting school, I immediately called him up (it was 11pm on a Sunday) to arrange a meeting 😂 We arranged to meet at the canal café in London and I had my headshots in my bag and a monologue memorised ready to be performed 🤦🏻‍♀️ when he stepped out of his car and I saw him I remember thinking “damn, he’s hot!”. He later knocked a bottle of wine on the floor with his coat and I liked the fact he was clumsy 😜 At the end of the meeting we went our separate ways and I remember thinking it was a shame cos I really liked him. Then he called me the next day and said “I don’t want to represent you because I don’t date my clients, instead - I’d like to take you out on a real date”. Nicely played Mr Leigh 😘 we were engaged within a year and frankly we moved in together within a month because I got offered a role in a movie that was shooting on location five minutes walk from where he lived! Talk about fate!!!! In the 15 years of us being mad we’ve lived in three different homes, two different countries, we started a family and have build a life I can honestly say I love and am proud of. It’s not always a garden of roses and anyone coming to my show next month will hear me moan and complain about all the stuff he does that drives me crazy, but the truth is - he’s one of the good ones. Really good one. And I’m forever grateful 🙏🏻 so happy anniversary lulu, I’m used to not spending it with you (he’s in Edinburgh for the fringe as per every year on this day) but hopefully we can have an early dinner and be in bed by ten when you get back to celebrate 😜 Love you ❤️

Christmas Eve day on the beach was a first! It’s been nice doing some old traditions like watching Elf on Xmas eve and giving the kids a new set of Xmas pyjamas, but it’s also been nice adding some new ones. This is our second Christmas in Portugal and I’m not going to lie, it’s actually been really lovely. I thought the kids would hate the idea of a sunny Christmas’s but they’ve appreciated it too and we’ve taken advantage of it will lots of walks, trips to the park and skateboarding. We’ll be back in the new year with new context, tour dates and more details on my upcoming retreats but for now just wanted to wish you all happy holidays wherever you are ❤️

Today is the Jewish new year and we wanted to wish you all a very happy new year! This is probably my favourite festival in the Jewish Callander because of its symbols and what they stand for. We are not religious AT ALL so potentially my understanding of these symbols is wrong, but I’ll tell you my version anyway. One symbol reminds us to be a “head” and not a “tail” when we can which I take as a reminder to question things and not be afraid of being an individual. In a wold of social media and trends I find it’s sometimes hard not to just follow the crowd and I realise not everyone can be a “head” all the time, but when possible and when it’s the right thing to do - don’t be afraid to be a leader. The second symbol is the pomegranate seeds and the saying is “may your good deeds be abundant like the pomegranate seeds”. I’ve recently been thinking about how our world could use more empathy, less looking out for ourselves and more doing good for others. This is a reminder to do good, not just when people are looking, but whenever we can. And finally the apple and honey which is what we say today to each other - Shana tova & metuka (good and sweet year). I wish that for all of you whether you’re Jewish or not. I also wish you love and good health and I’m using this moment to remind us all that time doesn’t wait for anyone. Life might not be short but it sure does goes by very fast so enjoy the ride while it lasts 🙌🏻 Big hugs from all of us to all of you 🍎🍯❤️

It’s birthday today! The day started with cake (obviously) and ended with pizza and the new Adam Sander movie “You are so not invited to my Bat Mizva” because that’s how you roll when your in you mid (late) 50s apparently 😂 Happy Birthday Mr Leigh, we love you ❤️

Can’t believe it’s nearly been a year! Things are starting to feel a little more like home although our Portuguese is still shockingly bad! As summer kicks off we are lobing the outdoors, weather, food and seeing people from home who have come to visit! It’s also lovely having the kids around and not at school. For them this year was the biggest adaptation and it hasn’t always been smooth sailing so spending time with them feels more precious than ever. Next month we go to London to visit old friends, family and all the familiar places. Our guess is that there will be mixed feelings but we’re all looking forward to it. We’re gonna swing by Paris and Euro Disney on the way back to Portugal which the kids are so excited about! What’s everyone else doing this summer?!? Tell us your plans 👇🏻

Happy Father’s Day to and to all the amazing fathers out there. We are so grateful for you and for everything you do ❤️ from dressing up as a clown and surprising the girls on their birthday during lockdown, to getting them into football and always being there when they need you. They are so lucky to have you as their dad. We love you so so much ❤️🥰
