We had a total 💥BLAST💥these last 3 weeks at our Autumn session at the Japanese & Nikkei Supper Club, thanks to everyone who came, diners, volunteers & friends!

We now take a 3-week break until our Xmas events - a celebration of the 10th Anniversary of my first cookbook Nikkei Cuisine, with a SUPER special Fish & Seafood menu featuring some dishes from the cookbook itself not yet offered at the supper club. The Christmas Session at the supper club will take place over 10 events from Thursday to Saturday on:

4, 5 & 6 December (FULL)
9, 11, 12 & 13 December (FULL)
18 December - FEW SPACES AVAILABLE
19 December (FULL)
20 December - FEW SPACES AVAILABLE

We serve a 10-dish/8-course menu of Japanese & Nikkei cuisines from 18:30 to 23:00 plus a welcome cocktail, the events are BYO and priced at £65pp + service (this cost has NOT been increased since 2022).

If you are planning a Xmas get together with colleagues, friends and family, we also offer diners the opportunity to book one of the tables for their own party of 6, 7, 7-8 (Chef’s Table) and 12. Tables are available on a first come, first served basis.

This month marks the 10th Anniversary of the publication of my 1st cookbook ‘Nikkei Cuisine’, published in the UK & US in Oct 2015, and later in other countries & languages incl. Portuguese, Japanese, Italian & Spanish. Many of you were here at the time & will remember what an exciting time it was for me. Nikkei was a catalyst for many wonderful things that happened in my life including meeting many of you, readers & diners of the supperclub who at that time were simply curious to learn about this little-known cuisine but who stuck around & today are regulars & good friends.

One of these diners was the lovely Fritha Saunders who found me at the supper club, believed in my work & asked me to write a book about it. Little did I know that the original concept of a book about my London supperclub would morph into something much bigger, requiring extensive research in Brazil, Peru & Japan and 2 years of writing. I am eternally grateful to my publisher Jacki Small of , who saw the author in me. I’m indebted to ‘Team Nikkei’, an army of amazing professionals who beat the book into shape - editor & friend Nikki Sims , project manager Manisha Patel & food photographer extraordinaire Lisa Linder.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Nikkei Cuisine, I am planning a special NIKKEI FISH & SEAFOOD menu for Xmas 2025 at the supperclub using recipes from the cookbook, some of these never offered before with a strong focus on Peruvian- and Brazilian-Japanese flavours + the freshest fish & seafood from Billingsgate.

Dr G & I are now regulars at Billingsgate which means a 4am wake-up call & a 30min car ride, but it also means that I can purchase better quality & more affordable fish for the events. Because of this, I’ve been able to reintroduce a no. of fish dishes to the menu which had become too costly, given that the £65 supper club fee has not been increased for the last 3 years.

I hope you can join us at the 2025 Xmas season at the supper club, there will be 6 events on:

18 & 20 December

Happy Friday!

Hope you are all looking forward to a sunny weekend! I will be hosting a PESCATARIAN menu at the Japanese & Nikkei supper club this June and I hope you can attend.

Priced at £65pp plus service (fee unchanged since 2022), this is a STEAL considering I will be serving our trademarked 10-dish, 8-course menu with 1 canape & welcome cocktail followed by 5 starters, 1 main course, 1 rice dish plus 1 accompaniment and 1 dessert.

Dates with availability are:

Friday, 6 June - 3 SPACES AVAILABLE
Thursday, 12 June
Saturday, 14 June

Please note that after this Summer session, I will not be hosting supper clubs again until late October or early November 2025.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

The set menu is not disclosed until the evening of the event, but I am planning a delicious PESCATARIAN Summer menu along the lines of…

- Chirashizushi of grilled scallop in a spicy sauce
- My Nikkei Aguachile (prawn & cucumber ceviche in yuzu-lime leche de tigre)
- Mentaiko Spaghetti – cod roe marinated in chillies in a creamy sauce
- King prawn & vegetable Tempura
- Sea Bream Rice cooked in claypot
- Tuna tataki – seared tuna in sesame ponzu dressing
- Yamitsuki Cabbage
- Nasu Dengaku – grilled aubergine with miso dengaku & mozzarella

Whatever the final menu, it will include a number of different fish, seafood as well as myriad vegetables.
