Sometimes all you need is a massive single tier cake topped with delicious fruits! The simplicity of this cake went down a treat with all of the guests. And it even sparked a comment from the wedding photographer saying it was the best cake they had ever tasted! I imagine they must have tried a few in their time so I’ll take that! 😜

It can be tricky knowing where to start with your cake design. So many of my couples come to me not knowing where to start. But inspiration can come from the simplest of places…I will always ask a few basic questions if you are in a “stuck” place. Colour scheme, stationery, wedding themes and even a wedding dress can be a starting point. Like this one from a few years ago - an alternative take on buttercream directly inspired by the bride’s dress. AND the design was a complete surprise from the mother of the bride for her daughter and future son-in-law. How lovely is that?

One from the archives as we kick off a new week. I LOVED creating this cake although you would not believe the hours it took to create! The colour and lace piping was inspired by the bride’s dress. Painstaking hours were spent translating the dress detail into a pattern that would work across 3 cake tiers, then scribing it onto the cake before the piped brush embroidery overlay. I definitely think the end result was worth it. What do you think?
