Namíbia is a Brazilian poet, decolonial sommelier and wine consultant based in Lisbon. We think the work she does is best understood through her own words:

“I seek to challenge Eurocentric narratives and bring fresh, diverse perspectives into the world of wine. I create pathways for Black and immigrant people, marginalized territories, and overlooked communities to access the fascinating world of natural wines.

If we don’t start spending our money within our own communities, while consciously mapping where that money goes and developing class consciousness, we’re simply reproducing the same colonial structures.”

🍇 Long time friend, man of the town and an all-round G deep in conversation about one of his concoctions.

Born in the depth of South Africa to mixed heritage parents, Nico had been cultivating a core following in his current home town of Berlin. Over the years he’s carefully nurtured a relationship with a vineyard hidden in the southern hills of Czechia, helping to provide him with some incredible natural wine in the process.

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of being treated to a private tasting as well as a look at his secret stash, alongside a preview of some forthcoming bottles.

As if that’s not enough, he’s just launched his pop-up spot in the heart of Mitte. If you’re in Berlin this summer be sure to check out the space and tell Nico you’re a friend of Black Wine Club.

🌍New Orleans born, NYC-based Silk was visiting the big smoke last week. We got to kick it with her at our takeover at the Queens Yard Summer Party, as well as have her join us on The Black Wine Club Show.

Before Silk stepped back across the pond we caught up with her to see what makes her tick, her favourite wines spots, and who you need to check out on the scene right now.
