It was fantastic to host an online tasting for over 65 screens (over 100 people) on Friday evening.

Thank you as always to for providing the wine pouches - perfectly packaged.

Also, with the support of Charlotte Wallace & Graham Crawford at .

I talked and tasted through wines from the three producers I currently represent:

- , Arinto - Majestic

- , Albariño - Waitrose

- Family Reserva - Morrisons

All of which were thankfully very well received via the comments and subsequent feedback (so far).

Most importantly all profits raised for charity.

People.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to spend time with the family.

At the heart of wine (like with most things in life) it all comes down to the people.

I’ve visited enough wineries around the world to know when the energy is right - it’s right here.

There’s genuine warmth, from the logistics crew to the kitchen, all flowing from the family themselves: humble, hard-working, inclusive.

I can now see why bringing the Ramos Family Reserva to the UK is such a milestone and one I’m proud to champion as brand ambassador.

It’s bloody difficult trying to remember wine regions.

That’s why I thought it would be helpful to break them down in a different way.

It’s such an exciting time for with so many of the wine regions waiting to or being discovered compared to the established ones.

Having gone solo 8 years ago and building my brand I don’t take these decisions lightly.

This June, I’m shining a light on 11 independent wine merchants across the UK who are championing Portuguese wines with real passion.

They’re doing it in the face of some seriously tough conditions.

Another punishing alcohol duty hike. Recycling regulations in chaos. Staff costs through the roof thanks to government policy. Endless red tape. And big chains squeezing harder than ever.

Indies don’t have massive margins or marketing budgets. What they do have is knowledge, graft and heart. They choose producers carefully. They serve their communities. They make wine personal.

So let’s back them.

Share this campaign. Talk about it. Shop indie if you can.

Because without them… well let’s not think of that!

After 13 years of visiting the
this was my first time behind the ropes working with championing and (whose wines stole the show!).

Some question if the fair is busy enough but from our perspective it was too busy at times. Which can only be put down to the work and reputation of Charlotte and Graham.

Fantastic to see so many familiar faces.

It’s been a full on week here in Portugal so far and here are the highlights.

The Wines of Portugal Challenge (officially Concurso Vinhos de Portugal) is one of the most prestigious wine competitions in Portugal, organised annually by ViniPortugal, the country’s national wine trade and promotional body.

Overview:
• Purpose: To celebrate and promote the quality and diversity of Portuguese wines both at home and abroad.
• Judging: A respected panel of national and international wine professionals – including Masters of Wine, sommeliers, journalists, and importers – assesses the wines through rigorous blind tastings.
• Categories: Wines are judged by style (e.g. red, white, rosé, sparkling, fortified), region, and vintage.
• Awards: Wines can receive Silver, Gold, or Grand Gold Medals, with additional Best of the Year distinctions in various categories.

Why it matters:

Winning a medal at the Wines of Portugal Challenge can significantly raise a wine’s profile, particularly in export markets such as the UK, by demonstrating its quality to buyers, critics, and consumers.

During this time im going to be visiting the Dao region as well - number 7 on my list of 12.

For me it’s going to boost my knowledge and understanding of Portuguese wines.
