Mudchute Park & Farm

Mudchute Park & Farm Mudchute is a fantastic destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to enjoy nature
(1328)

Established in the 1970's, Mudchute Park and Farm is one of the largest city farms in Europe. With 32 acres of countryside, located a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Canary Wharf, the farm is a place where you can experience rural life without leaving the city. We are proud to be one of London's only Rare Breed Survival Trust's Approved Conservation Farm Parks. The farm is home to

over 100 animals, including pigs, sheep, goats, cows, ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, and even llamas. Visitors can get up close and personal with the animals by feeding them or petting them under the supervision of the farm's expert staff. In addition to its animal residents, Mudchute Park and Farm boasts a range of facilities for visitors. The farm has a cafe serving delicious homemade food, and a gift shop selling a range of souvenirs and farm produce. The Farm includes a Children's Nursery and offers many facilities for local residents, businesses and schools, including an Education Centre, Corporate Volunteering Days, Team Building Days, Party Hire, Meeting Rooms, Venue and Field Hire for large and small meetings and events. The farm also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including open days, seasonal festivals, and educational workshops. The Farm is a community charity and our aim is
* to preserve the natural environment of the Mudchute
* to promote for local people the opportunity of recreation and leisure on the Mudchute, especially the young, the elderly and those of limited economic means
* to advance the education of local people in countryside activities
* to promote animal welfare through engagement with the Farm
* to provide education and training for young people
* to promote conservation both of the natural and the built environment

Mudchute Park and Farm is a fantastic destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to escape city life and enjoy some time in nature. With its wide range of facilities and activities, there's something for everyone to enjoy at this unique urban farm.

One of the things that makes Mudchute unique is that it is accessible to all 24hrs a day 365 days a year, free of charge.

Over the last few weeks we have experienced an increased amount of antisocial behaviour and needless vandalism. As you know Mudchute is a registered charity, we have a small staff team and limited funds to put this kind of continued damage right.

Some of the things that our staff team have encountered this weekend is being verbally abused when asking groups to place their rubbish in bins when leaving the farm and reinforcing there cannot be any fires or BBQ’s onsite.

Last night was the worst by far with the fire brigade having to attend the farm as one of our bins was set on fire!

As well as this our memorial garden was vandalised with the pickett fence being ripped down and attempting to push over our stone fountain.

We do not mind people using the wider park once the main part of the farm is closed, all we ask is that they respect the environment by following a few rules:

• Place rubbish in the bins provided
• Do not have any fires or BBQ’s
• Do not enter any of the animal pens
• Do not feed the animals anything other than the animal feed from the farm.
• Pick up after your Dogs.
• Keep dogs on leads around the livestock.

If you know anyone that uses the farm please remind them of the above.

The above has been reported to the police and council.

Thank you to the many thousands of visitor’s who enjoy the farm in a respectful and responsible manner.

There will be no holiday activities (animal petting / arts & crafts) on Thursday 13 August due to the very hot weather.

We remind people who decide to visit, not to visit at the hottest times of the day.

Visitors should apply sun cream regularly throughout the day, and stay hydrated, drinking plenty of water.

It is also a timely reminder that you cannot have any BBQ’s or any fires here at the farm or in any of LBTH Parks.

We urge dog owners to not walk their dogs at the hottest times of the day and to do so early in the morning and evenings.

Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.
