Yesterday was a bittersweet day at the farm, Denise our Education officer and Barry our Maintenance man retired.
Denise our education officer had been in post here at Mudchute for over 20 years and during that time Denise has met thousands and thousands of children and young adults, changing their perceptions of the natural world and educating them further through quizzes, songs, raps and games. The impact that Denise has had is vast and immeasurable.Denise’s huge knowledge was all self taught and over the years the project development was headed up by Denise along with Tina, (who retired a few years ago). Denise you will be missed and the fantastic project that you created is in the very safe and knowledgeable hands of Shelly.
Barry has been at the farm for a good number of years too and is a very knowledgeable man turning his hand to most things and completing any task to a very high standard. Over the time at the farm Barry has saved the farm thousands of pounds with the skills that he has, everything from electrics to mechanics.
Most of all both Denise and Barry were very warm welcoming and happy to talk to our many visitors.
We wish you a very happy and well deserved retirement, thank you from us all here at the mudchute both past and present.
