What’s in the van? Nelles from the Ahr Valley, home to some of Germany’s silkiest Spätburgunders (aka Pinot Noir). Philip and father Thomas can trace their family history back to 1479. Another delightful tasting in the sunshine in Formosa Garden last weekend. Amyot Ch*****ne Mathilde Amyot Doussot was the leader at the event but what did they take home? Gerrit Walter’s dry Riesling Gerrit Walter , followed by Moulin de Cantelaube Saint-Emilion 2011 and then Prinz’s Spätburgunder Weingut Prinz . Who said you can’t drink red w**e on a sunny day? You are invited to our next tasting on Thursday 10th September from 17.00-20.00h in our shop at 797 Fulham Road.
As usual, we will be kicking off with bubbles. Classy bubbles. Bolet’s Gran Reserva Cava.
Very stylish white Bordeaux by Chateau de France in Pessac-Léognan.
We just came back with a vanload from Germany. First out of the van will be dry Riesling from Gut Hermannsberg in the Nahe. Striking location, striking w**e.
Next up will be another dry Riesling by Kallfelz on the Mosel. Dry, yes - also succulent. How do they do that?
The third will be red. Silky, sappy Spätburgunder (aka Pinot Noir) from Nelles in the Ahr valley.
Nicolas and Aurélie Cheveau make fabulous white Burgundies around the remarkable two cliffs of Solutré and Vergisson near Mâcon. They also make a handful of Beaujolais. On Thursday we’ll be showing their chunky Saint-Amour ‘Villa Violettes’.
Final red in our lineup will be next level Ribera del Duero Crianza by Viña Sastre.
Our tastings are very casual, just drop in anytime between 17.00-20.00h and feel free to bring a friend.

Come and look at this! The amazing view of the Schlossböckelheimer Kupfergrube vineyard from Gut Hermannsberg. Gut Hermannsberg has a riveting history, founded in the Nahe in 1902 by the Prussian State. More on that another time. Then work, work, work. Fortunately, extremely enjoyable work!
