This weekend, local print designer Rue Webster is selling their beautiful The White Swan, Charlton cyanotype at Plumstead Open Studios, with proceeds going towards bringing The White Swan into community ownership.

Big love to Rue for creating this special artwork. Go and check out their work, support a brilliant local artist and help Save Our Swan at the same time.

We’ve already lost 39% of Greenwich’s pubs in the last 25 years. Let’s protect what’s left.

Greenwich Council is writing a plan that will guide decisions about what gets built, knocked down or protected for the next 15 years. Before it’s finalised, they want to hear what you think.

Right now, we don’t think it does enough to protect pubs.

The White Swan needs you again.

A new planning application has just been submitted that would turn part of the building from pub use into flats, add another floor of flats, and reduce the much-loved b**r garden.

On paper, a pub remains... for now. But this change of use would leave it weaker, smaller and less able to serve its community. Once more of the building becomes residential, the future of the pub becomes less secure.

But a community-owned White Swan could be shaped by the people who use it. It could give back to Charlton, keep up with the times, and protect the building long term.

This plan does the opposite.

Our first Crowdfunder has now ended, and together we successfully raised over 30% of the deposit needed to secure The White Swan as a meeting place and arts venue for future generations.

From a standing start, that’s HUGE. It’s opened doors, started bigger conversations, and shown just how much this place matters.

But this is just the beginning. We’re working towards launching a community share offer giving you the chance to invest, become a part-owner and have your say on key decisions.

Until then, we keep going: flyering door-to-door, speaking to potential supporters and growing the team to make the next stage even stronger. If you’d like to be part of it, or have a skill you think could help, drop us a message.
