The White Swan needs you again.

A new planning application has just been submitted that would turn part of the building from pub use into flats, add another floor of flats, and reduce the much-loved beer garden.

On paper, a pub remains... for now. But this change of use would leave it weaker, smaller and less able to serve its community. Once more of the building becomes residential, the future of the pub becomes less secure.

But a community-owned White Swan could be shaped by the people who use it. It could give back to Charlton, keep up with the times, and protect the building long term.

This plan does the opposite.

WOW.

Our first Crowdfunder has now ended, and together we successfully raised over 30% of the deposit needed to secure The White Swan as a meeting place and arts venue for future generations.

From a standing start, that’s HUGE. It’s opened doors, started bigger conversations, and shown just how much this place matters.

But this is just the beginning. We’re working towards launching a community share offer giving you the chance to invest, become a part-owner and have your say on key decisions.

The White Swan has been at the heart of Charlton Village since the 1840s, and even before that, a pub on this site was at the centre of local life. It's a building full of stories and character.

But if we don't act now, it's at risk of being turned into flats. Let’s make sure it continues to serve the people around it for generations to come, and give it a new chapter filled with music, creativity, and community.
