RE-RELEASE SERIES #1

Hello pals, Chloe (Marketing Manager) here!

Last week I told you we’d be diving into the Pretty Decent back catalogue to bring back some past specials. Each month, someone from the team gets to choose a beer from the archive and I’m up first!

NEW RELEASE 🍍 My Other Can is a Sour - 5.5% Pineapple & Coconut Sour

It’s a fact that all the best summer drinks contain pineapple and coconut. Piña Coladas, Malibu tinnies, tepache (IYKYK)... that may actually be the whole list. Until right now!

Wanting a slice of that tasty tropical dream, we’ve combined sweet, juicy pineapple with fragrant, creamy coconut milk in this month’s sour. It’s fruity and refreshing and if you close your eyes you can almost taste the all-inclusive beach holiday 💭

NEW THIS WEEK / The Burps 🐸

Two Burp-themed beers because, as you well know, one burp is rarely enough to get the job done!

I Used To Be Burped In Nightclubs - 6.5% NEIPA

Some people need a taxi home. Others need a glass of water. But actually, all you need on a big night out is a good burping and you’re good to go another round!

Like a noughties light-up dancefloor, this NEIPAs saturated with sticky fruit juice, bursting with perfectly ripe mango, passionfruit and flashes of vibrant lime. A hefty Superdelic and Nectaron dry hop brings a Haribo Heart sweetness and a soft, squidgy finish.

Lift, Squeeze, Belch, Repeat.

Primal Burp - 5% DDH Pale Ale

A good classic burp has structural integrity, a medium body, a multi-layered flavour profile and a lingering finish. Which are almost exactly the same characteristics you’ll find in a classic hop pairing of Mosaic and El Dorado.

Mosaic Cryo and T90 brings soft waves of berry, peach and citrus, while El Dorado Cryo gives juicy Fruit-tella Summer Fruits, tangy pineapple and tropical sweetness.

Drink it down. Burp it back.

RE-RELEASE SERIES 🗂️

Over the years we’ve brewed a lot of beer. With one to three specials landing most weeks, we’ve had plenty of opportunities to experiment with new recipes, explore hop combinations and continually dial in our brewing techniques.

Starting this month, alongside our usual specials, we’ll be opening the archive and bringing back a beer from PD history each month, in the run up to our *tiny trumpets* 10TH BIRTHDAY next year!

Some are coming back because we loved the artwork. Some because we loved the recipe or hop bill. And some just because we reckon they deserve another shot. Each month we’ll chat through why we’ve brought it back, what’s changed, and what we’ve learnt since we first brewed it.

Like a proud parent flicking through a photo album, it’s nice to look back every now and then and see how far you’ve come. Or remind yourself that some things, like bowl cuts (and dill pickle gose), are probably best left in the past.

We’re kicking things off next week so keep ‘em peeled folks. And let us know if there’s anything you’re hoping to see make a come back!

YUKON GOLD 🥔 4.8% HELLES LAGER

Oh potato, how we love thee.

You ask for so little.
But give so much.

You boil. You mash. You roast. You fry.
Crisps. Chips. Gnocchi.
And, most importantly, hash browns.

There through thick cut and thin.
The most comforting of comfort foods.

Patata. Pomme de terre. Aardappel. Spud.

Long may you starch 💛

We love to revisit classic styles, and here we present to you the Yukon Gold. A 4.8% Helles lager brewed with the German noble hops Hallertau Tradition, Tettnanger and Spalter Select. Much like it’s namesake, it’s a classic balance of starch and moisture. Crisp, dependable and perfect for everyday use!

IF I WERE ME 🪞 6.7% NEIPA

Advice is a funny thing. It’s usually well intentioned, often unsolicited, and never quite as objective as we’d like to think. After all, everyone’s an expert from the sidelines.

Perhaps, “If I were me...” is the more honest way to begin a piece of almost certainly unwanted advice.

Talking of... in the spirit of offering advice you absolutely didn’t ask for, if I were me, this is what I’d be reaching for this weekend.

A 6.7% NEIPA built on a whirlpool of Idaho-7 Cryo and Nelson Sauvin Cryo, expect ripe pineapple, juicy mango and peach before a dry hop of Superdelic and Nectaron layers in nectarine, candied berry and a soft tropical finish.

RAKING UP THE PAST 💙 5.5% Passionfruit, Pineapple & Peach Sour

We love nothing more than kicking it down in Borough Market at arguably one of London’s most iconic beer destinations. So when The Rake got in touch about brewing something special for their 20th birthday, it was an easy yes from us.

Twenty years is no small achievement! So we thought we’d rake up a few memories and make something that takes you straight back to kids’ birthday parties, blue tongues and consuming enough Slush Puppies to see sounds.

The only obvious direction? A blue sour! Packed with passionfruit, pineapple and peach, it’s tang-fastic and juicy like a party bag of lollies and sherbet straws.

If you’re in the area make sure you swing by to wish The Rake HBD!

PS. Find it in slushy form at the Forest Gate and Blackhorse tappys 👀🥶

NEW RELEASES / This week we’ve got a dreamy hair-do duo, all in pursuit of the answer to one of life’s greatest questions…do blondes really have more fun?

We dared Charlie to frost his tips. He agreed on one condition. James had to bleach his mullet too.

So we bought some bleach. Squeezed Charlie’s head into a swimming cap with holes in. And got to work.

As for the answer to our original question? We think James’s face tells you everything you need to know 😅

FROSTY TIPS 🌊 5% DDH PALE ALE

When we think of frosted tips, we think of ‘90s and noughties heart-throbs like Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Leonardo DiCaprio and Freddie Prinze Jr. Swooooon. The poster boys for smooth operators everywhere, sporting soft floppy blonde mops and surfer-boy charm. That’s exactly the energy this Pale Ale brings.

Double dry hopped with Mosaic and Nectaron, it’s a smooth, juicy dreamboat packed with ripe passionfruit, mango juice, sweet peach and plump berries.

BLEACHED MULLET 💇‍♂️ 7% NEIPA

Mullets are bold. Edgy. As the kids say... dank(?). Sported by wrestlers, rockstars, trendsetters and the occasional midlife crisis, they’re not for the faint-hearted. Throw some bleach into the mix and that’s confidence bordering on dangerous.

A hairstyle this loud deserves a beer to match. Loaded with Idaho 7, Simcoe and Citra, this 7% NEIPA rips with tropical fruit and citrus zest before crashing into juicy mango, zesty grapefruit and a dank finish.

FLYING ANT DAY 🐜 5.8% Hazy Pale Ale

Batten down the hatches, the ants are ready for their nuptial flight!

We’ve heard rumours that the big day has been and gone, but we’re not convinced. Biblical swarms of winged ants pummelling you in the face while you’re trying to walk the dog doesn’t leave much room for doubt does it?!

When the sky does finally turn black, consider this your emergency provisions. This 5.8% Pale Ale is brewed to calm your nerves as you routinely waft those winged ants away. Idaho 7 lays down a dreamy tropical base, before Mosaic and Simcoe bring soft berry notes and a gentle, dank finish.

Ant Armageddon, we’re ready for you.

INAPPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR 🩴 5.8% West Coast IPA

White trainers at a festival. Flip-flops on a hike. Suede in the rain. Stupidity or sweet optimism? We’ll go with the latter, because maybe some people really do want to feel every pebble on their soles. Good for the circulation, we’ve heard...

This 5.8% West Coast IPA is to numb the pain of your poor footwear choices. Strata brings punchy grapefruit, pine and dankness, while Lorian adds a bright lemon snap, finishing crisp and clean. Indie Hops describe Lorian as “the feeling of a summer meadow near a cold mountain stream”, which is lovely and feels entirely appropriate. Unlike this footwear.

Some news from our Victoria Park taproom!

Our pals at Seouls Of Mischief are coming to the end of their kitchen residency at our Victoria Park taproom. Ash and the team have been amazing to work with and have cooked up an absolute storm in the kitchen since we opened the new space, serving some of the BEST burgers in London. We will 100% be along to see what they cook up next in their new spot at the Adam and Eve in Homerton where they’ll be setting up shop at the end of August.

Their last day with us will be 9th August, so you’ve got until then to grab a final burger and say bye to the team!

And now, as one chapter closes, another begins...

From 18th September, our pizza-slinging pals Papi’s Munchies - Sourdough Pizza will be taking over the kitchen!

We’re absolutely hyped, and if you’ve been to our Forest Gate taproom recently, you’ll understand why. The response since Papi’s joined us over there has been incredible, and they’re bringing an extended menu to Viccy P so you’re in for a treat.

Fresh from being named one of the Top 50 pizzerias in Europe (yes, Europe!), Papi’s started life making just 27 pizzas a day from a house in Leytonstone, with just a household pastry mixer and a two-pizza oven. Fast forward a few years and they’ve built a cult following across Forest Gate and Leytonstone, and very soon you’ll be able to get your hands on them in E3 too!

There’ll be a short gap between Seouls of Mischief signing off and Papi’s firing up the ovens, so keep your eyes peeled for options in the coming weeks.
