🎉 Press Release: The Independent Panel (“T.I.P”) of Professional and Master sommeliers and drinks experts that Freed From engaged has now finished its intense, thorough and comprehensive review of the best non-alc wines that The Freed From Company discovered.
As you may remember we have reviewed and tested over 7,500 non-alcoholic drinks since early 2024 from across the world. Out of 7,500 a colossal 550 non-alcoholic wines were chosen and presented to The Independent Panel (‘T.I.P’) for its review. The series of tastings conducted by T.I.P were held in Notting Hill in the week up to and including Wednesday, April 9th.
During this extensive 5-day process, the T.I.P team held a day of tasting traditional still red wines, a day of traditional still white wines, a day of alternative wines, a day of rosé both still and sparkling and a final day of traditional white sparkling wines all of which were 0.5 ABV or less.
From T.I.P’s tireless work during these tastings, we are delighted to now have a list of which of the 550 ‘Made the Grade™’.
We could not have done this huge tasting process without the skills, enthusiasm and knowledge of wine and flavour that The Independent Panel (“T.I.P”) brought to us at Freed From. The T.I.P team included Master Sommeliers Eric Zwiebel MS and Henri Chapon MS, DipWSET (France) as well as highly regarded, well-known senior sommeliers and writers on wine such as Tom Surgey (UK), André Figuinha (Portugal), Stefan Kobald (South Africa), Romané Basset (UK/France), Federica Zanghirella, Federico G. Dadone MIH, Roberto Colucci (Italy) and Rafa Bellido (Spain).
We also thank the fabulous and hugely respected non-alcoholic drink expert Camille Vidal for her tireless efforts throughout this process. Piers Milburn and Majken Christensen, who represented their own world-class brands while tasting our full range of non-alc alternative wines, also deserve full respect for their grading knowledge and perfectionism. A special thank you to Romané Basset who so nobly represented Gérard Basset Foundation during the tastings and to Nina Basset FIH, Nicolas Medicamento, william wouters and Andre Figuinha who were all instrumental in helping us put the T.I.P team together.
Over the coming weeks, Freed From will announce which non-alc wines T.I.P regarded as 'Made The Grade™' and were most respected and well received.
