HELLO!

Happy New Years to all my friends and followers here on the gram! I hope you all have a great 2023 ahead with less challenges and more happy adventures!

It’s been a while since I last posted and frankly 2022 was just a year I had to dedicate my time primarily to living in the real world. I have certainly missed the chats and the laughs, sharing common passions and all the creative fun. So perhaps a little fun to intro myself to new followers and catch up with those lovely bunch that have been such a great support the last 4-5 years. Would love to know your 2 events of 2022 that were positive/challenged you/taught you something and 2 things in 2023 that you are looking to enjoy/tackle.

2022
- Emigrated to Australia ➡️ Boy oh boy did I underestimate the emotional toll it would take. Whilst very exciting, emigrating it is not for the weak hearted! Having to say goodbye to all we had built in the UK over 16 years was so tough, it’s the family and friends we miss the most.

- Judging spirits and drinks with and
Getting to meet talented people from all sides of life and the world, learning valuable insight and experiencing producers’ heart and soul in a glass.

2023
- Finding my feet by either forging my creative side here in Australia or going back to my corporate life that I did enjoy so very much. Perhaps even a mix of the two 📸🎞🍹🗂🗓🗄

- Spending precious time with family and friends whilst watching my little humans grow and learn from our new life down under ❤️🏡

(AD) This weekend, street parties, afternoon teas and garden parties have be taking place across the country to celebrate our amazing Queen!

I have teamed up with Schweppes this summer and here I am using their new Slimline Elderflower Tonic which also comes in a divine 600mg glass bottle which is a perfect size to be shared with some friends. Tea in cocktails works really well and especially when paired with a quality tonic water with long-lasting bubbles.

20ml ginger liqueur
30ml spearmint, apple and baobab tea (brewed and cooled)
Top with Schweppes Slimline Elderflower Tonic

Garnish with an edible flower or mint sprig

To accompany your G & Tea - Red Pepper & Goats Cheese Quiche, Strawberry & Cream Cupcakes, Coconut Macaroons & Strawberry Meringues.

HELLO

It’s been a while and much has happened so I thought I would say hello and do a little intro.

My name is Chrissy and as the handle suggests I have quite an affection for all things citrus! 🍊🍋

Originally from South Africa, I am a mom to 3 young kids and hubby sometimes joins as the 4th 🤣

I used to work in financial marketing pre-kids but moved into the world of spirits and particularly gin first almost 5 years ago. I am now a drinks & product photographer, mixologist, business owner and spirits & drinks judge. Big thanks to for the photo captured at the this year!

Love a good cocktail, drinks products and how they are made. My motto is Life Is Too Short For A Rubbish Drink!
Being a mom though, I believe in moderation too, so quality versus quantity and one should never have to sacrifice quality when drinking a non-alcoholic drink either!
Very important too - always have drop dead gorgeous glassware, it’s part of the whole experience 🍸🍹🍷🥃🥂

TONICS & MIXERS

It’s been a crazy few months between house renovations, judging and client photo shoots. Time for the gram has been somewhat of a struggle.
I am certainly not the only one to be finding life a sprint at the moment. Not sure what’s happening but aside from complete madness of war 💔everyone seems to be doing an epic plate spinning session.

So…..it was a little while ago but I got to spend International Women’s Day with some super special ladies judging Tonics & Mixers with
We did have some talented guys alongside us on the panel.

Found any mixers that have ticked all the boxes for you?

Mixers are a supporting cast but goodness me their part cannot be underestimated because with the wrong combination it can positively ruin an otherwise good drink. It was refreshing to see how much choice and innovation in taste has been happening in this space. The options to consumers certainly in the UK is vast with both independent and bigger brands. The results are out, check out the link in my stories to see how the various mixers faired.

The low calorie tonics and mixers are certainly getting the balance right in terms of palatable sugar substitutes and level of quinine or flavours.

It’s was great to be a part of the panel and looking forward to Gin Masters coming in June. Get your entries in now for this category as submissions are now being taken.
