This tray arrived at 9am. By noon it'll be someone's lunch.

Cannellini bean purée — the perfect base for a Magdalene-style Muhammara.
English tomatoes, because local sounds better, and tons of basil to remind us of our roots.

This is what Bowl Culture looks like before it meets the bowl.

Come and find it Monday to Friday at Broadgate EC2M.

This week’s bowls are having a full-blown identity crisis... and we couldn’t be happier about it.

There’s broccoli wearing paprika like it’s heading to a summer festival, cauliflower that’s fallen in love with honey, soy and sesame, apricots pretending they’re in Thailand, and potatoes dressed up in panko, parmesan and togarashi because apparently plain was never invited.

The tomatoes are sitting on cannellini and muhammara having a conversation across continents, while black quinoa is busy introducing mango, aubergine and shiso leaves to each other.

As Marco would say, “Every ingredient has an ego. Our job is to stop them shouting over each other.”

This isn’t one cuisine. It’s not one story. It’s not even one language. It’s a bowl culture conversation where unlikely ingredients somehow become best friends.

And yes, the pasta still needed a hug. 🍝🥦✨

EVERY INGREDIENT HAS AN EGO.

The trick is knowing who’s in charge.

At Magdalene, we don’t believe in throwing ingredients into a bowl and hoping for the best. Every ingredient has a personality. The chilli wants attention. The parmesan thinks it’s the hero. The mango arrives late and somehow steals the show.

The art isn’t making them compete.

It’s making them work together.

That’s why we build our bowls the same way we build our culture. Different influences. Different backgrounds. Different flavours. One conversation.

Cultures, not categories.

Curated, not copied.

Built from influence.

Food should never be about one ingredient shouting louder than the rest. It should be about balance, discovery and finding unexpected combinations that just make sense.

Every ingredient has an ego.

We just make sure they all get along.

A week ago ➝ today.

Still not quite finished.
Still a bit dusty.
Still finding things to paint.

But bit by bit, Magdalene is becoming what it was always meant to be.

Not just a place to eat.
A place to gather, discover and connect.

We hope you love it.

We’re just getting started.

Not a rebrand.
A recalibration.

This mark represents everything Magdalene has become.

Layered.
Global.
Curated.
Built from flavour, not formulas.

No trends chased.
No beige bowl culture.
No copying what everyone else is doing down the road.

Just a small independent brand that believed food could feel different.

This logo is a symbol of movement.
Of influence without ownership.
Of cultures, textures, spice, balance and identity all meeting in one place.

From painting the walls ourselves…
To queues out the door at Liverpool Street.
This is only the beginning.

Welcome to the next era of Magdalene.
We are Redefining Bowl Culture…..

Springy Salad Bar.

In theory anyway.

Outside? Grey skies, questionable temperatures and everyone still pretending it’s coat weather.
Inside Magdalene? Colour. Heat. Crunch. Texture. Bowls that taste like spring finally got the memo.

This week’s bar is layered properly. Not sad lettuce pretending to be lunch. We’re talking vibrant salads, bold dressings, warm grains, fresh herbs and flavours that wake your brain up a bit.

Because bowl culture was never meant to be boring.
And neither was your lunch break.
