One of the many extraordinary people I had the privilege of meeting during my hospitality career was former U.S. President Richard Nixon.

As you can imagine, I was a little nervous. To break the ice, I decided to tell him a joke.

Thankfully, he laughed and seemed to genuinely enjoy it!

It’s funny what stays with you over the years. Not the titles or the status, but a simple moment of shared laughter with a man who had helped shape world history.
