The History of Home Cinema, Part 1 – VHS 📼✨
For decades, we have been searching for ways to enjoy movies in the comfort of our own homes. 🍿🎬 In this three part series, we explore the past of home cinema, the most famous physical media formats, and current streaming trends. 📺⏳🌐
The VHS (Video Home System) format spread worldwide in the late 1970s and was considered a revolutionary innovation in home entertainment at the time. 🌍💥 Although magnetic tape playback was practical, it had the disadvantage that picture and sound quality gradually deteriorated with continuous use – not to mention the inconvenience of rewinding. ⏪ Still, it had a very personal, intimate feel that brings back many pleasant memories even today. ❤️💭
Although video cassettes were slowly replaced by DVDs with the arrival of the new millennium, the production of VHS players officially ended only in 2016. 💿📅
