Ever wondered what's the difference between Burrata, Burratina and Stracciatella?

As temperatures rise, we're turning to some of Italy's most luxurious fresh cheeses.

Stracciatella is the rich, creamy filling found inside a Burrata – delicate ribbons of mozzarella mixed with fresh cream. It's wonderfully indulgent and perfect spooned over ripe tomatoes, grilled peaches or simply enjoyed with good olive oil and crusty bread.

Burrata takes that creamy Stracciatella centre and wraps it in a pouch of fresh mozzarella, creating one of Italy's most celebrated cheeses.

Burratina is simply a smaller version of Burrata – all the same creamy indulgence in a more individual-sized format.

And for something a little closer to home, we're also stocking Scottish Buffalo Mozzarella, made from the rich milk of water buffalo in Scotland. Fresh, milky and wonderfully delicate, it's a brilliant addition to summer salads.

Available now from our Jermyn Street shop while stocks last.

Our June Virtual Tasting, hosted by Rob next Friday 26th June, celebrates the families at the heart of British cheesemaking and the generations of knowledge that sustain this remarkable craft.

Across Britain, family-run dairies continue to preserve centuries-old traditions while embracing modern approaches to sustainability and regenerative farming. On these farms, where parents and children work side by side, cheesemaking is about far more than producing exceptional cheese. It is about stewardship of the land, care for livestock and safeguarding a legacy for future generations.

As we mark Father’s Day, it is a fitting moment to reflect on the values passed from one generation to the next: patience, dedication, craftsmanship and care. Few foods embody these qualities more beautifully than artisan cheese.

Whether you are looking for a thoughtful Father’s Day gift or would simply like to learn more about the families shaping the future of British cheesemaking, we would be delighted to welcome you to our Virtual Tasting next Friday.

Please note that the five cheeses and crackers for the tasting will be dispatched on Wednesday to ensure they arrive in time for the event. Places are limited, so book soon to avoid disappointment.

Have you tried...? Solstice

This peachy little cheese has a rind washed in Somerset Brandy. Produced with Jersey Cow’s Milk, the interior is golden hued, characteristic of cheeses made with the rich milk typical of the breed. Produced by Whitelake Cheese near Glastonbury and named for the local celebrations of the summer Solstice on the 21st of June each year.

On the palate, Solstice delivers notes of sweet cream, toasted butter and fresh hazelnuts, complemented by a gentle savoury depth that lingers pleasantly. As it matures, subtle caramelised flavours emerge, creating a rich yet elegant finish. Pair with a crisp Somerset cider, a lightly oaked Chardonnay or a slightly sweet biscuit, like our Cornish Buttermilk Crackers, to fully appreciate the complexity of this outstanding Somerset cheese.
