🇮🇳 Darjeeling Express & New Hall wine Estate
Darjeeling Express New Hall Wine Estate Asma Khan Danielle Nowakowska Haydy Hosts…🍷

🌶️We had the pleasure of visiting the New location of Darjeeling Express and no doubt in my mind some of the best Indian food ever!

🍚We went for their feasting menu £75pp
2 mains per person, rice and served Tamarind dal, aloo gobi mattar, cucumber and cumin raita, Bengali tomato chutney, pickled onions, green chilli and coriander chutney, courgette paratha and plain paratha followed by dessert

🇮🇳 Our Lazeez Feast celebrates the extraordinary legacy of Asma’s mother, Faizana Khan. Founder of the acclaimed Lazeez Catering in Kolkata, Faizana became renowned for the exceptional meals she served at the city’s most distinguished clubs, including the Royal
Calcutta Turf Club. Inspired by her celebrated hospitality, this feast honours the flavours and traditions that made her table unforgettable.

🍷 We decided to bring new hall wine with us at a corkage charge of £30 per bottle. Both wines were excellent with the spice dishes

What a bloody lovely evening at ✨

Four of The Wine Squad gathered to enjoy the stunning Lazeez Feast menu filled with warmth, spice and flavour; food cooked with patience and love by 's incredible all-female kitchen, celebrating the matriarchs and home cooks who bring people together through food.

As there were four of us, we were able to try every dish on the menu and my gosh, everything was delicious! My personal favs were the Badami Baingan - Aubergine with coconut, peanut and tamarin and the Prawn Malaikari which is a Traditional Bengali dish.

The perfect accompaniment came from : the vibrant, orchard-fruited Old Vine Bacchus Fumé, with its beautiful oak, vanilla and delicate spice, alongside the Winemakers’ Signature 2025.

Wonderful food, brilliant English wine and rather lovely company. 🍷✨

When the bottle is on brand, you just have to have a snap with it, right?!

Have you ever tried to open a Salmanazar before?!

A Salmanazar is a 9-litre bottle, which equals 12 standard 750ml bottles and serves about 72 glasses. It has a HUGE cork (as expected on a bottle so big) and despite following the instructions on how to open it with the tools supplied, we ended up using a normal corkscrew!

🍷✨ A lovely little bottle in a lovely little spot!

We enjoyed the Janelas Antigas Vinho Verde at GABS in Leigh-on-Sea, a fresh, fruity Portuguese white with beautifully balanced acidity and exactly the kind of easy-drinking style that works so well with vibrant, grazing-style food. 🇵🇹

Light, refreshing and perfect alongside fresh flavours, fish, seafood and salads… although it was equally delicious simply enjoyed with great food and even better company. 🥂

GABS is such a gorgeous addition to Leigh-on-Sea, serving colourful, beautifully presented dishes in a relaxed setting, definitely one to add to the list! 💕

Getting to try the 2015 'Lalomba' Finca Lalinde Rosado was an absolute privilege! I've never drunk a Rosado this old before!

🍇 Ramón Bilbao Lalomba Finca Lalinde Rosado 2015
ℹ️ An elegant, premium Rioja rosé crafted from high-altitude Garnacha and Viura grapes. Pale salmon pink in the glass, it offers delicate aromas of wild strawberries, white peach, citrus zest and fragrant herbs. The palate is beautifully fresh and refined, with vibrant red berry fruit, bright acidity and a long, mineral finish. A sophisticated rosé that showcases just how age-worthy and complex Rioja rosado can be.
🍽️ Perfect with seafood, grilled prawns, sushi, summer salads, Mediterranean dishes or simply savouring on a warm evening if oyu can get your hands on a bottle!

Recently, I took my dad to see Garth Brooks in Hyde Park after years of being fans. In fact, my dad playing Garth at home when I was growing up is the reason I'm such a country music fan!

But whilst we were there, we grabbed a bottle of wine to share and it was our first one in this style bottle!

It surprised us how much we enjoyed it, but we did pay £35 when it's only £8.50 in supermarkets!

🍷✨ Some wine tastings are super memorable... and this was one of them.

An incredible night with , tasting our way through a range of beautiful wines – including a few special bottles that may never even make it onto UK shelves. 🍇🇪🇸

One of my favourites had to be the Ramón Bilbao Rosado, which is available in plenty of supermarkets. Bursting with juicy strawberry, raspberry and delicate floral notes, it's fresh, vibrant and exactly the kind of rosé you want in your glass on a summer's evening. Crisp, elegant and dangerously easy to drink! 🌸

As if the wines weren't enough, Chef cooked a stunning seafood paella with the wine and packed with incredible flavour. Great wine, amazing food, brilliant company and plenty of laughs. ❤️🥘🍷
