The Tamnavulin Whisky wine casks 🥃

Are easily accessible but under-looked supermarket whiskies. It also means the rest of the range also gets passed over by many enthusiasts- even though a 25 was recently launched!

This one went into the charity auction for Liv Pattison and Women's Aid and if I remember right raised over £100 with charity matching thanks to the generosity of members ❤️🥰

Thank you to Carolyn Watt one of my favourite whisky people for the bottle 🫡👏

It’s a day today!

2 months of relentless heat and I’m mostly reaching for cool and refreshing drinks and cocktails.

I’m a big fan of a simple old fashioned, and the Islay Rum Islay Barrel Aged makes a really good Rum OF (makes a pretty cracking rum punch too. Get your grenadine/ sugar syrup, bitters and lime juice ready!)

And of course, if you have it neat, then there’s a whisp of smoke that you’d expect from an Islay Barrel.

Hands up who is interested? I’ll be in the garden 🤣

The have released a signature whisky 😁

This will be sticking around and very consistent - with a mix of bourbon and Oloroso casks in the mix - a classic Scotch Whisky combo 🙃

Even better - this will be just 50 notes, or the equivalent in your local currency, making it pretty cracking value from a young distillery that continues to do things the right way 💪

It’s available widely from the 28th, but if you head over to the Harris website and sign up, you may be able to snag one early 😉

It’s been a while - sorry!

Holiday, work, life and a crushing heatwave has given me a terrible backlog along with a desire for cold drinks, when I am drinking. Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon!

In the meantime I have nearly managed to complete the The Glendronach cask finish series from many moons ago at least.

I’m just missing the 15yo Marsala now, if you know anyone with one… please DM me!

Day 3 disappointments. Johnnie Walker Blue Label. The ultimate enthusiasts disappointment right?

Ha! Fooled you, look closer 👀👀👀

This is the Casks Edition, a cask strength version. I’m also a big fan of the Ghost and Rare series.

Sure, standard Blue Label is for drinking on someone else’s dime (thanks, British Airways 😘), but the higher strength versions can often be found very reasonably at auction or Costco, and present both interest and value. To me, anyway. I know and I agree here 😮‍💨

What do you think? Is Blue Label about as good as Blue Nun? Or is it something you’ll turn to every so often?

Disappointments, day 2 🥶

- pilloried to the point where they no longer bother coming to Whisky Show. Spurned by enthusiasts, seemingly still beloved by TV shows, wealthy Americans, and… flippers?

With the bottom well and truly out of the market, even that last category have been shunning the brand. Certain bottles have even been seen… on sale 😳😂

Is negative perception catching up with a once-unstoppable juggernaut? Or is it a brand, much like Rolex, that has broken past the core enthusiast and can weather any storm?

Let me know your thoughts?
