We thought it was time to reintroduce the woman behind Alexander & Björck: our founder, Lena.

A female entrepreneur, avid rower, mother and co-owner of Viking House Donegal Lena has spent more than 30 years at the heart of the hospitality industry.

Since founding Alexander & Björck in 1995 with the support of The Prince’s trust she has helped shape the world of luxury catering and event design, creating experiences for King Charles III, Bill Clinton and the Swedish Royal Family - to be able to name a few! Over three decades later, A&B continues to be trusted by some of the world’s most prestigious brands, institutions and individuals.

Lena has since brought that very same spirit and magic of hospitality across the water to Donegal, where she’s helping to shape Viking House into a place centred around exceptional food, generous hospitality and bringing people together.

At the heart of everything she does is a simple philosophy: we are not only in the business of events and restaurants; we are in the business of taking care of people with excellence. To us, that is the true meaning of hospitality.

Also, just to add another string to her bow, you’ll often see Lena out on the water, training and competing in rowing championships – showing us all how to live life to the fullest!

A little spotlight on The Magazine at Serpentine Galleries North, arguably one of London’s most striking standalone event spaces, and a venue which we have been fortunate enough to have been catering at throughout this Spring / Summer 2026 season!

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the space features a flowing sculptural roof, dramatic curved columns and floor-to-ceiling glazing overlooking Kensington Gardens. Flooded with natural light by day and beautifully atmospheric by night, it creates an exceptional setting for both drinks receptions and seated dinners.

What we love most is that the architecture does so much of the work. With its sweeping roofline, illuminated columns and views across the gardens, very little else is needed ... apart from wonderful people, food and impeccable hospitality.

Putting together a dinner at Kensington Palace is no mean feat. A venue so steeped in history and royalty will always deliver a true “wow” moment!

For this private dinner, our kitchen created a menu worthy of the setting, beginning with Orkney scallop ceviche, coriander aguachile, avocado and yuzu pearls. This was followed by 28-day dry-aged Aberdeen beef fillet with watercress purée, toasted quinoa, potato fondant and Cotswold port jus, before finishing with Tonka bean crème brûlée, roasted apples, caramelised puff pastry and a delicate caramel tuile ... Decadence as it should be.

Each course was also paired by our in-house sommelier with an Albariño and Lebanese Cabernet Sauvignon wine.

The backdrop almost stole the show, but our talented kitchen team made sure the food held its own.

From laying out the pastries and frothing the milk for the coffees, to the final prep before service begins, there's always a few things taking place before our guests arrive.

Then, it's time to enter our stage and put on our best performance! Hospitality is always is mostly definitely a team effort, thank you as always to all involved.

Shoreditch Electric providing the perfect backdrop for a day of exceptional food, from breakfast through to lunch, with fresh coffee flowing throughout.

Designed in mind to keep our guests fuelled from start to finish of their conference, our menu celebrated seasonal flavours and generous sharing.

Gluten-free chocolate brownie bites, salt beef bagels, smoked salmon bagels, asparagus and goat's cheese tartlets, vibrant fresh salads, zesty lemon drizzle cake and a classic summer strawberry Eton Mess all made an appearance – offering something for every guest while keeping things light, colourful and perfect for a hot summer's day.

From intimate garden parties to large-scale conferences, the A&B team have been out in force this summer.

This time, we were at Shoreditch Electric for a two-day conference, serving breakfast, coffee breaks and lunch, with a little entertainment woven into the day too.

On one of London's hottest summer days, we loved being in the heart of Shoreditch, delivering another seamless event. Originally built in 1896 as an electricity generating station, the venue has been transformed into a striking, state-of-the-art events space, where industrial heritage meets modern production.

Working across such a diverse collection of venues is one of the things we love most. Each space brings its own character, challenges and opportunities, making every event a completely unique experience.

We love a summer party. We love a garden party. And we love bringing the A&B experience to your home from us!

This time, we came to the heart of London for a beautifully fun summer evening soirée. Complete with steel band, plenty of chilled champagne, and freshly prepared canapés including our compressed watermelon & feta, ⁠⁠Brixham crab canapés and shrimp burger, our clients’ favourite which she asks for every year!

There’s something always so special about transforming a private home into the setting for an unforgettable event. Bringing the magic of A&B beyond our office is always such a joy for all.
