'Warm and welcoming' sounds great on a brochure and you deserve to know whether it actually shows up on the day, when 150 guests are waiting and the food is still in a van somewhere on the North Circular. Too many couples and event hosts skip the hard questions at the booking stage, and only discover the gaps when it's far too late to fix them.

Here's what to ask before you commit to anyone:

1. Can I taste the food before the event?

2. How do you handle dietary requirements in writing?

3. What's your contingency plan if something runs late?

4. Can you show me reviews from events of a similar size?

5. Is the quoted price fixed, or can it change before the day?

These aren't awkward questions. They're the bare minimum. 🚩 On Reddit r/LondonFood, community members actively ask "How to choose the best Sri Lankan caterer in London?" and the anxiety underneath that question is real.
