Highgate Honey Family-owned beehives in North London, foraging in Highgate and the immediate surrounding area and producing lovely local honey.

Whoops! Somehow this section of hive has been damaged and the bees now have an extra entrance…

Luckily, at this time of the year it isn’t a problem - but later on wasps and other bees might try and take advantage of this hole and rob the honey.

This is why we regularly check our hives - often there’s no need to open them because you can see what’s going on from the outside.

Another gorgeous sunny day in London!

Our bees are flying and collecting water, nectar and pollen for their colonies.

If you’d like to try some of our London honey it’s available to order from our website shop 🍯

Sometimes working with our London bees is extremely frustrating!

They don’t follow my rules or pay attention to what’s going on in the world! They just get on with their thing.

😝

Did you know that bees don’t just bring back food, they bring back a colourful diary of their day out?

By looking closely at the hive, we can see exactly where our London bees have been foraging. Because different plants produce vastly different shades of pollen, the honeycomb becomes a vibrant, local map.

Take a look at the striking purple pollen in this clip. That tells us our bees have found Phacelia flowers! 💜

As a Honey Sommelier, this is where the magic of raw honey begins. Every single apiary we manage from Highgate and Hampstead to Finchley, Hendon, and Epping Forest, produces honey that looks and tastes completely unique because of the distinct local flowers growing in that specific neighborhood.

We never blend our honey or buy it in from elsewhere. It’s just pure, raw, unheated North London nature, straight from our hives to your jar. 🍯

Want to help our bees add more colours to their palette? Planting bee-friendly flowers like Phacelia or borage in your garden or window box makes a massive difference to our local pollinators. 🌸🌱

And by gardening, I mean growing stuff for bees 🐝

Bees need plenty of flowers to feed on. Growing the right flowers for them is important.

If you’d like to plan your growing space, take a look at our book “80 Flowers for Bees” - it’s available from our website shop.

We are beekeeping in London and we try to support our bees by growing as many flowers for them as possible

Working with our London bees, making London honey 🍯

Our London honey is all from our own hives, which we look after ourselves.

There are no middlemen, so we know exactly where all the honey comes from. We even put the hive number on the label, so you can know too.

We don’t always get a spring harvest of honey in London, but we will this year!

The warm weather last month meant that we had a strong nectar flow and our bees were able to stock up.

I’ve been using Flow Hives in London for a couple of years and am often asked what I think of them 🤔

DM me if you are thinking about getting one!

Anyone else?

When I teach beekeeping to people just starting out, I warn them that it can become all consuming!

What started out as a gift of a hive 14 years ago has grown and grown!

Our hives across North London now produce the most amazing London honey.

If you’d like to try some, it’s available from our website shop.
