The taste of home isn’t one dish. It’s the whole table. 🤍

The noise, the arguing over who starts first, the plates passed hand to hand, the smell of curry leaf and ghee drifting through the house. Dal, rice, pickle and subzi, and somehow never the same flavours twice.

If you’re far from home tonight, we’re bringing the table to you. 🍛

Tell us the one dish that takes you straight back ♥👇 Comment below.

Last month, our founder Anshu joined forces with Hackney School of Food for a one-off cooking class, and what a day it was! 💛

Hackney School of Food is a not-for-profit food education hub in East London, working with schools and the local community to build life skills through cooking and food growing programmes. Every penny from this class goes toward free community classes and subsidised food education for Hackney kids throughout 2026, and we couldn't be prouder to have played a part in that.

Together, we cooked generous, home-style Indian meals from scratch:

・Seasonal vegetable poriyal – veg stir-fried with coconut
・Pumpkin kuzhambhu – sweet & sour pumpkin curry
・Cherry tomato sambar – classic South Indian dal
・Lemon rice – zesty rice with tempered spices

Along the way, everyone learned:

・The key spices, ingredients & techniques of South Indian cooking
・How to make their own sambar masala spice blend
・Tips for making Indian cooking simple & accessible at home
・Easy seasonal swaps so these recipes can be cooked all year round

Seeing everyone gather around the table, swap stories and leave with full hearts (and full bellies) was a joy. A huge thank you to the Hackney School of Food team and to every single person who came along and cooked with us. Your support will help give local kids the chance to learn life-changing skills in the kitchen. 🌶️🍛

Here's to many more meals shared together!

October at DabbaDrop means four menus, four different corners of India.💕

Because the more you travel around India, the more the food changes. Different spices, different techniques, different things people cook at home. What you eat in Punjab feels nothing like what you eat in Goa or Tamil Nadu.
So this month, we’re following those flavours around the country, one dinner at a time.

📍 Delhi, old lanes, late-night food stalls and smoky tandoors. Think punchy chaat, a deep makhani built on pulled mushrooms, and dal that’s been simmering all day.

📍 Jalandhar, Punjab’s Doaba belt, all fertile farmland and big, bold flavour. Achaari spice, coarse kadai masala, smoky rajma and a pulao perfumed with whole spices.

📍 Ludhiana, the mustard field Punjab you know from the movies. Hearty winter greens, saag cooked low and slow, and a mung dal that goes dark and creamy over hours.

📍 Hyderabad, Deccan spice meets Nizami richness. A nutty, tamarind sharp salan, a khatti dal that’s properly sour, and a curry leaf poriyal for crunch.

Four cities. Four completely different food cultures. Authentic as hell, cooked fresh - with love.
