The fun thing (among many) about the work we do, is that wine can act as a sort of time capsule - so it’s a real treat to release a special wine produced as an impromptu collaboration between three friends in the heady (and wet)2023 vintage: our Al, alongside Nicola & Daniel Ham, with some valuable assistance from good pals Paris Barghchi & Ryan.

DNA V1 is a col-fondo style sparkling produced from Herefordshire fruit. Sourcing fruit in the challenging conditions of 2023 was proving tricky. On the winds, they heard of a grower spraying no herbicides or pesticides with fruit to spare, so Al and Ryan took off in a hired Luton box van and drove north to collect the grapes.

Several hours and one wing mirror later, they returned to Nic & Dan’s winery to begin processing the fruit and filling barrels. The first iteration, DNA V1 is the result of selecting a couple barrels that had developed a flor and sparking them with 2024 Chardonnay juice from Lucie & Jules at Ham Street.

All movements by gravity, the wine has seen no fining, filtration or additions. Label by our friend .9 ! More info on the blog now.

We’re really excited to share the debut release from our good friend Paris Barghchi! Working under the name From Paris, it’s a joy to introduce the first fruits of a long journey: Of Love 2024.

Based in Somerset, Paris came to wine production in 2020 after years in hospitality, and this is her first solo project. Working nomadically, Of Love was made with fruit from Matt Gregory’s organically farmed vineyard in Leicestershire. The result is a delicate, characterful rosé. Pink with a lovely orange hue, crunchy red fruit, citrus lift and a stony minerality. There’s a brightness to it, but also a surprising texture and weight for its modest 8.5%.

A special first release from Paris, and a lovely reflection of both the vintage and her intuitive approach, a wine absolutely primed for the season, announcing the arrival of spring with all the sunshine Paris brings! More info up on our blog, link in bio.

Looking forward to the next addition of our neighbourly collaboration between , , and - Wednesday Wine Club on March 25 will be focusing on the wines of the Loire!

Alex will be calling by with a clutch of wines he’s excited about, and Matt is working on a concise bistrot menu inspired by the region. Our aim is always for a casual, low-pressure evening, with Al on hand to chat about the chosen bottles, share stories and answer questions if you are so inclined!Tickets are £15 to secure your seat, but that cost is fully redeemable against any of the food & wines available, not an additional charge.

We’re delighted to release a very special new cuvée from Lucie & Jules at - with just 450 bottles produced - this is the very last wine to be released from their first vintage in 2021.

Their Meunier Traditional Method - is as the name would suggest - a traditional method sparkling from 100% Pinot Meunier. Pressed directly to barrel for fermentation and 9 months ageing, with 30 months on the lees, bottled unfiltered, unfined and with no sulphur.

The wine is a thing of beauty, lovely depth and just a little autolytic biscuit rounding out its edges without obscuring the purity of fruit here. Driving and mineral, a nervy salinity and pithy acidity. Not one to miss for those in need of properly energising English Sparkling.

Some shots here from our field trip to visit Lucie & Jules last summer, whilst we’re giddy about the return of sun.

We recently had the privilege to release the 2024 vintage wines from Xaviere Hardy’s uniquely personal project, Les Terres Bleues. We poured the new arrivals yesterday at Ducksoup, and we’ll have them with us at our next trade tastings - on Monday 9 March in Edinbugh at .edinburgh and the following week at on March 16. With tiny quantities to go round, this might be the only chance to sample them!

The 2024 releases are some of the most astonishing wines we have tried from Xaviere, with profound tension and energy. They are detailed in full on our blog, link in bio.

Alongside the three new wines, we have small volumes of her dazzling 2023 whites and tiny amounts saved of two back vintages of XH2.

60km north of Nantes in the village of La Chappelle-Glain - with no other vineyards for miles around - Xaviere farms an isolated 1.5 hectares on blue schist, trained in the Albarello style. Farming organically and biodynamically, Xaviere prioritises a homoeopathic attitude to her human-scale farming utilising a library of plant-based treatments for the vines stress (nettle and comfrey teas, horsetail, oak bark and willow).

Six days on the road recently with in five short videos - an effort to capture the chaos and love we have for what we do.

Obviously we do this mad work because we believe in wine farmed properly and made with as little intervention as possible - but equally important to us are the people we meet along the way, and a community connected by a mutual love and a shared curious spirit.

A huge huge thanks to everyone who shared their hospitality with us, hosted Alex & Lucy for an event, or kept them fed - mostly on very very good pastries. It’s a joy to travel this country to help inspiring people meet inspiring people. The ecosystem is mysterious and important.

Thank you Lucy, for your monumental efforts - at home in Catalunya in the vines & cellar, and sharing your energy here.

After visiting Arthur & Achille in the Loire a couple of weeks ago, we’re very pleased to have a second tranche of wines from the two childhood friends working organically together under their own name as in Cheverny.

A three-hour drive from Nantes Airport to Cheverny, with a detour to hunt for a missing airbnb key meant we arrived in the dark, unable to walk the vines this year - but we were so pleased to be greeted by their wonderful hospitality: a shed full of new wines to taste and a dinner together around the wood-fired stove at Achille’s home.

Tasting the wines together, we were struck by their versatility and layered profile. Highlights included their dynamic, textural whites (a chance to try their breathtaking Romorantin) and nimble, characterful reds.

From their 2024 vintage - the second from their own space - we have four new wines, detailed in full on our blog along with the story of the domaine.

We’re excited to announce the beginning of a new collaboration between , , and - with the businesses located so close, we’ve been looking for a way of bringing our strengths together to offer something casual and approachable to the neighbourhood - so we’re introducing the Wednesday Wine Club.

What that looks like is Alex turning up at the restaurant on a Wednesday evening with a clutch of wines he’s excited about, and Matt working on a concise bistrot menu inspired by the wines available on the night! For guests interested in local delivery of the wines after the event to stock up at home, Table can take care of that as they roll around the neighbourhood in the electric van. Every need covered.

For our first - 25th Feb from 6pm - we’ll be celebrating the Alsace: dynamic & energetic wines as perfect foil to the delicious, hearty fare of the region. Tickets are £15 to secure your seat, but that cost is fully redeemable against any of the food & wines available, not an additional charge. You can book now via kloseandsoan.co.uk

Al will be on hand to chat about the chosen bottles, sharing stories and answering questions. Wines will be available by glass, carafe, bottle, or a special flight to taste a selection. Grab a glass on the way home, share a bottle with some friends, or learn something new about a region, the night is designed to be relaxed and welcoming, very low pressure. Nobody needs more pressure.

The Three Muscadeers

We’ve uncorked Wines Under the Bonnet in 2015. Our idea was very simple: we want to promote naturally made wines we love to drink.

We have a direct relationship with many of the growers we work with. We have visited their vineyards & cellars, met their families and spent loads of time getting to know their wines.

As Basile hails from the Muscadet area, it was only natural to focus on the diverse wines of the Loire. Since then, however, our vine has spread to embrace the rest of France, Germany and Chile.
