Summer is much more fun when it’s a little more WHET.

One thing we’d almost forgotten from those early development days with Lawrence was just how ridiculously good Pineapple Make It WHET tasted with coconut rum. We remembered loving it, but after trying the wrong rum the other day we realised we’d need to call in our master flavour guy. His reply came back almost instantly, “It was Aluna.” (Aluna Rum )

Well, let’s just say Lawrence knows exactly what he’s talking about.

An ice-cold Pineapple Make It WHET, a splash of Aluna Coconut Rum and suddenly a warm Norfolk evening felt just that little bit more tropical. It’s fresh, it’s smooth and it’s dangerously easy to drink, which is probably why we’re calling this “research” rather than “having a drink in the garden.”

Make It WHET was always created to be brilliant straight from the can, but every now and then it’s fun to remind ourselves that it’s more than happy to join the party too. If this hot British summer is going to stick around, we have a feeling there could be a few more evenings dedicated to “research.”

Whatever you’re drinking this summer, enjoy it responsibly.

Yesterday’s tasting with Lou’s mum and dad started off exactly as planned. Three ice-cold cans of Make It WHET, a bowl of ice and a very civilised discussion about everyone’s favourite flavour. A little while later, things had escalated.

We’d always imagined Make It WHET would make a great mixer as well as being something you’d happily drink straight from the can. Judging by the state of the table, we’d say Ronny and Mike have officially confirmed it.

It might be one of the driest British summers in years, but yesterday afternoon we definitely made one little English country garden a bit more WHET.

The grandchildren were, of course, keeping a close eye on proceedings. Drink responsibly, kids.

LONDON, PART 1 - Make It WHET does London.

We’ve been talking a lot recently about what it means for Make It WHET to be proudly British, so we thought it was about time we took the cans into London and introduced them to a few of the neighbours. Big Ben, the London Eye, The Shard, a red bus or two, they certainly didn’t look out of place in the capital.

It was also just a brilliant excuse for the two of us to spend a day wandering around London together, taking Make It WHET along for the ride and seeing where it ended up.

And there was quite literally a ride. We gave our legs a break, jumped on a couple of Lime bikes and seeing those three cans sitting in that ridiculously green basket got us thinking. Lime Make It WHET? Now there’s an idea.

Getting WET before most people are even awake.

Wild swimming has been part of Lou’s life for years, and having somewhere as brilliant as Quay Swim (Quays Watersports) so close to home means there’s really no excuse, other than life constantly finding ways to get in the way.

She doesn’t get out with the girls nearly as often as she’d like these days, but this morning was far too good to miss. A 6:15am alarm, an early start before the day gets too hot, a swim with friends and a few cans of Make It WHET waiting on dry land afterwards.

There are definitely worse ways to start a Sunday.

Get WET. Stay WHET.

Some people invite you over for dinner, Dan and Kate HOST.

Tonight that means one of Dan’s now-famous paellas, a massive pan, a warm summer evening and a table full of very good friends. Gary’s got a cold b**r in hand, Lou’s obviously brought her favourite Make It WHET, and quite frankly we’re not sure we need much more than that.

Dan and Kate have also been huge supporters of Make It WHET from the beginning, so being able to share what we’ve created around their table makes evenings like this even more special.

Great food, great friends, something cold and tasty to drink, and hopefully enough paella for seconds. This is summer done properly.

There’s something pretty special about spending an evening with people who understand exactly what you’re going through.

Tonight we headed down to Quay Swim in Mytchett (Quays Watersports), somewhere Lou and the boys have loved coming for years, to join our good friend Rob for a SUPventure (supventure_paddleboards) demo evening. Like us, Rob has recently taken the plunge and launched his own business, so it felt only right that we took a few cans of Make It WHET along for him to try.

Thankfully, we’re pleased to report that he’s a fan of Make It WHET, and we’re big fans of what he’s created too.
Launching a business can be a lonely place at times, so having good people around you who genuinely want to see you succeed makes all the difference. We have a feeling this won’t be the last time Make It WHET and SUPventure find themselves in the same place.

A huge thank you to Rob for a brilliant evening, and to everyone at Quay Swim for creating such a fantastic place to get out on the water. Watching the boys paddling around as the sun started to go down was a pretty good reminder that some of the best evenings are often the simplest ones.

Here’s to supporting local, backing each other and plenty more adventures.
