Based in Co. Donegal, Ulster Mead Co. was founded in 2021 with a mission to bring one of the world’s oldest alcoholic drinks back to life with a modern Irish twist.
They are Donegal’s first meadery, producing their drinks in small batches with a focus on quality, careful fermentation and innovative flavours.
And what exactly is mead? 🍯
Often known as “honey wine”, mead is made by fermenting honey with water and yeast. It has been enjoyed for thousands of years, but Ulster Mead Co. are giving this ancient drink a seriously modern makeover.

Their flagship traditional mead — rich, smooth and honey-led, with delicate floral and herbal notes. Perfect for sipping on its own, or pairing with cheese and desserts.

Ireland’s first hibiscus mead! Deep ruby-red, floral and beautifully balanced, with the richness of honey combined with a subtle tartness from hibiscus.

Ireland’s first coffee mead, combining honey with rich, bold coffee roasted in Donegal by New Kid Coffee. Smooth, vibrant and definitely one for the adventurous drinker!
