The 207th consecutive Long Sutton Friendly Society annual walk, something I am very proud to be a part of. Always a bloody fantastic day, funds raised, new friends made, traditions continued. I bloody love club day!
To quote Tolken:
"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world."

We are back at Castle Combe! I am very pleased to say we raised just over £3000 last time, a date has come up at relatively short notice, so I thought we should have another go.
If you are interested drop me an email, all are welcome. Burning dinosaurs and raising money, perfecto!

Happy St George's you beautiful bunch.
A short history lesson as to why Alfred The Great is such a legend and seemingly why I love my corner of England, so long as there's breath in my lungs, my corner will never change.
I'm off to attack a full English with great alacrity!

"Bloody farmers, never happy about the weather"
So goes the commonly said line. 9wks seperate the two photos, the 2nd taken as the waters were going down and first yesterday, they will give a little context as to why we always like a whinge!

Poor weather doesn't just make growing crops for human or animal consumption a nightmare, but poor grass crop directly knocks on the cost of rearing livestock for the following winter as well. All part of the joy of trying to get food to your tables.

After last year's bloody shocking harvest that saw our farm, like mamy others, make a loss at year end. I think I speak for farmers across the country, when I say some fair weather, a little sunshine, a drop of rain this spring/summer would be very welcome....and obviously completely scrapping IHT for all!

The weather is looking delicious for The Sunday Service this week.
Looking back at photos from the summer and I'm still blown away thinking how incredibly lucky we all were to have a very generous gentlemen bring such a legendary piece of kit to our little gathering.
The XJ220 was the first proper model car I got as a nipper. I'd have said there was more chance of Nelson growing his eye back than ever having one in our farmyard.
Thank you again.
Who knows what delights we'll get this year?!

Just what Sunday morning's were made for.

Some trailer p**n for you agri kit lovers.
Before you all start worrying I've sold the helicopter I've been attending IHT protests in to buy it, she's on loan to the contractors doing the mucking out for young Ashely.
North of £80,000 just for a trailer!!!

On this weeks update, getting paid to do nothing, the Environment Agency and lots of water.

Everyone who lives in Somerset knows the Levels flood, but this is worryingly/seemingly becoming an annual occurrence. For this government and to cut funding to and the so they do less preventative maintenance work is utterly bonkers.
The grass will recover, it's hardy, but there's only so much water the moor will take before houses and high streets flood.
Now ministers, if any of that is wrong I will happily be corrected.
Spend some money on infrastructure would you please. Baroness Batters report gives UK agri 2yrs before it's in serious trouble, this isn't exactly helping.

Glorious scenes from the Somerset Rivera this morning.
Well played to all those boys and girls involved in just checking the entrances of various docks are still working over night.
When milk producers are having contracts changed mid term and being paid 25p per litre....
fair pricing is what we are after. Cost of production is around 50ppl.
I would encourage you all you shop as locally and seasonally as you can.
