Ribble Farm Fare

Many of you will be aware, but it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ribble Farm’s original co-founder David Coulston. He passed peacefully aged 88 on 18th December.

With his wife Gwen, David founded Ribble in 1964, originally as a potato merchant who worked with supermarkets such as Tesco. They made the decision to retire in the 80’s, but their sons Roger & Richard reincarnated the business, moving into the fruit & veg market & selling to the catering industry.

Today the business is now 3rd generation, with over 1200 customers, 2500 products in stock & over 70 vehicles.

David was incredibly proud of Ribble Farm, if you cut him open he would bleed out orange & green.
He had huge respect for all the staff he employed throughout the years & was a strong proponent of the local community, which was shown in his time as Mayor of Longridge.

Never one to shy away from telling people his thoughts, his wisdom will be missed by all, along with his presence on site.

The family would like to thank everyone for their very kind words & messages. While David’s life should be celebrated, it is a huge loss to everyone.

***WE ARE HIRING! JOIN OUR TEAM:***

Due to growth, we are looking to recruit pickers to join our day shift team.

Your responsibilities will be:
- Pick orders across various lines of fresh food & dry goods using our handheld system.
- Assist in re-stocking the picking area.
- Assist with quality control as new produce is being delivered overnight.
- Work with drivers to help load their vans.
- Work with drivers to pick remaining items on orders with missing stock.

*THIS ROLE IS TUES, THURS, FRI & SAT*
Tuesday & Thursday 10am - 6pm
Friday 8am - 6pm
Saturday 6am - 3pm

What you will need:
- You will ideally have experience as a picker or in a warehouse. - - Food experience would also be a bonus, but not essential.
- A positive attitude.
- An approachable manner.
- To demonstrate reliability.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Not bad for Spring Greens grown with no applied Nitrogen! The previous crop was a clover cover crop, which was strip-tilled to plant the cabbage. You can see the clover recovering between the rows of Spring Cabbage. It will continue to supply nitrogen, and protect the soil structure with it's roots over winter
