A group of organic vegetable growers from around South East Cornwall, based at Keveral Farm, near Lo

The produce boxes are packed at Keveral Farm and is run by a collective of growers from Keveral itself as well as local growers from around South East Cornwall. The packing barn sits in the middle of the action on the farm, surrounded by the apple press, chickens and a range of other buildings that the community have big plans for. Down a short and winding lane a series of polytunnels huddle together and supply some of the best heritage tomatoes and winter salads that you will ever taste.

What a treat this rain has been! 🌧️🌧️🌧️
We’ve finally got germination of our re re sown green manure cover crops 🥳
And the grass is starting to return to its usual shade of green, I can almost feel the the earth taking a big sigh of relief 😌

As the long drought continues we’re doing our best to keep things going.
Green manure germination as been especially poor but some are pushing through 💪🏼
Keeping them covered with netting to try and catch some morning dew 💦
We tried to make best use of the small amount of rain we had last week by covering the wet ground with silage plastic to try and trap the moisture in, in the hope that when a bit more rain is forecast we can prep the soil underneath for another attempt at cover crop germination, seems like a waste of seed to even try at the moment.
Greens under mulch are still doing good and somehow we’re managing to keep the cauliflowers and Broccoli alive 🥳 some have even put on a tiny bit of weight!
Rain dances welcome, successful rain dance participants receive a free veg box (Ts and Cs apply must at least 2 inches 🤣)

How are we coping with this drought?🥵🤪🫠
Some plants are really starting to struggle now, courgettes have slowed down allot and salads have been bolting, lots of hand watering on the fields for our new babies and mulching what we can to try and keep the water in the ground. It’s so dry up here, working the soil is quite a challenge. Even the tiny bit of rain we had last night has done absolutely nothing 😞
On the plus side tunnel crops are doing especially well, we have had to do very little weeding and the slugs are hiding so it’s not all bad 😊
Fingers crossed for some proper rain 🤞🏻💦🌧️
