🇮🇹 Rome has four iconic pasta dishes… and we’re bringing all of them to the Dew Drop for a tasting evening 🇮🇹

After our recent trip to Rome, we’ve decided to put on a special Roman Pasta Tasting Night featuring the city’s most famous pasta family 🍝

🧀 Cacio e Pepe
The simplest of them all: Pecorino Romano, black pepper and pasta water.

🐷 Gricia
Take Cacio e Pepe and add crispy guanciale (cured pork cheek).

🥚 Carbonara
Take Gricia and add eggs. That’s what creates the rich, silky sauce. No cream needed… and no cream, ever!

🍅 Amatriciana
Take Gricia and add tomato instead of eggs. A classic dish named after the town of Amatrice.

What makes these dishes so special is how they’re all connected, with each one building on the last.

And for anyone who’s already a fan of our Carbonara, you’ll be pleased to know we make it the traditional Roman way: with guanciale and Pecorino Romano. No bacon, no cream, no shortcuts. If we don’t have guanciale, we simply don’t make Carbonara.

One family. Four legendary dishes. A true taste of Rome ❤️

Coming to the Dew Drop in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out for the date!

Hosting a party, birthday, family celebration or special event? 🍽️✨

Let us take care of the food!🇮🇹

We offer bespoke catering both at the Dew Drop and for private events at your chosen venue. Every menu is made to suit your event, guest numbers, venue and budget, with no fixed packages and no one-size-fits-all approach!

Using fresh ingredients and homemade dishes inspired by authentic Italian cooking, we’ll work with you to create a menu your guests will be talking about long after the plates are cleared.

Whether you’re after a relaxed buffet, sharing platters, antipasti boards or a full feast, we’ll build the perfect menu around your vision and agreed budget.

We do ask for a minimum of 3 weeks’ notice for all bookings. If you’d like to host at the Dew Drop, we’ll also need to check availability with the landlord and arrange any drinks packages. For private events elsewhere, everything is organised directly with you.

Got an event coming up? Send us a message and let’s start planning something delicious! 🇮🇹❤️

📍 Polignano a Mare & Bari — chapter three of our Puglia trip is now live on the blog! 🇮🇹

A man with a fear of heights on the cliffs of Polignano, my ADHD going absolutely wild in the souvenir shops, the nonnas of Bari already napping by the time we arrived... and a number of Spritzes I'd rather not count. 🍊

If you're thinking of visiting Puglia — or just fancy a few minutes of southern Italian sunshine — this one's for you.

Made for sharing 🇮🇹🧀

Our antipasti boards are designed for two people to enjoy together, generously loaded with authentic Italian salumi and cheeses sourced directly from Italy.

The selection may vary depending on what arrives from our Italian suppliers, but you’ll always find a variety of premium cured meats and cheeses, with olives and taralli served as a complement.

We focus on quality and generous portions rather than filling the board with unnecessary extras, which is why so many customers tell us they’re surprised by the value for money.

Traditionally, antipasti should be served without balsamic glaze, but if you enjoy it, we’re always happy to add it for you.

Perfect with a glass of wine and good company 🍷❤️

🇮🇹 This Week’s Special

Baked cannelloni with spinach & ricotta ✨

Originating in the Campania region of Southern Italy, cannelloni is one of Italy’s great comfort foods. Traditionally filled with ricotta and spinach or meat, covered in sauce, and baked until golden and bubbling.

The combination of creamy ricotta and spinach has been loved in Italian kitchens for generations. It’s a beautiful example of cucina povera - creating delicious, satisfying dishes from simple, readily available ingredients.

A staple of family gatherings, Sunday lunches, and celebrations, this is proper Italian comfort food ❤️🍷

Come and give it a try before it’s gone! 🇮🇹🍴

A Taste Of Southern Italy 🇮🇹✨

The Insalata Caprese comes from the island of Capri, in the Campania region of southern Italy. Traditionally made with tomatoes, mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, and a pinch of salt, its name literally comes from Capri itself.

One of the most widely told stories is that it was created to reflect the colours of the Italian flag: red tomatoes, white mozzarella, and green basil. Simple, fresh, and iconic, it has become one of Italy’s most loved dishes around the world.

In our version, we add a drizzle of balsamic glaze. While it’s not part of the traditional recipe, Italian cuisine has always evolved through home cooks and chefs adding their own personal touch over time. For us, it brings a richness and balance that we really love.

As for tradition… well, let’s just say some Italians will tell you: “NO! Balsamic glaze does NOT belong on a Caprese salad!” 😄

To that we say… prrrr, we don’t mind 😊

Because at the heart of it, this dish is about respecting tradition while still cooking with personality, warmth, and a little bit of fun.

A Taste Of Southern Italy On One Plate 🇮🇹✨

From the bold, sun-soaked flavours of Calabria to the comfort of Puglia, this duo is all about heritage, heart, and traditional homemade food.

Our Calabrese salad brings that southern Italian spirit to the table. Simple, fresh ingredients that have been loved for generations. Think ripe tomatoes, vibrant flavours, and that honest Mediterranean feel that doesn’t need overcomplicating.

And then there’s the panzarotti… a true Puglian classic. Golden, crisp, and filled with all the good stuff, it’s the kind of bite that feels like street food at its best in southern Italy 🇮🇹

Two dishes, two regions, one shared story of family, tradition, and food made with love.

Have you tried this duo yet or is it going on your next order? 👀

After two days in Rome, we continued our journey south.

Destination: Puglia.

Destination: Molfetta.

The plan was simple: catch the train from Rome, change at Barletta and arrive at our destination without any particular adventures.

Then I had one of my brilliant ideas.

The train was delayed.

We were thirsty.

I looked at Matt and said:

"Come on, let's leave the station and grab a quick drink."

Well.

You can probably guess what happened next.

We missed the train.

From that moment on, the trip took the direction that things often do when you stop following the plan and simply enjoy the moment.

Between my mum trying to communicate with Matt through Google Translate, seaside aperitivos, a wonderful discovery called Baia Salada, my beloved "office" at Mini Bar Garden Bistrot, and one of the most beautiful sunsets I know overlooking Molfetta's Cathedral, these first few days in Puglia reminded me why I keep falling in love with this part of the world.

I've shared the full story in my latest blog post.

And if you're planning a trip to Puglia, you'll also find a few recommendations on where to eat, enjoy a good glass of wine and experience the Adriatic away from the crowds.

In the next chapter of our journey, I'll take you to Polignano a Mare, Bari and then back to Rome for one final day in Italy before flying home to the UK.

Dopo due giorni a Roma, siamo ripartiti verso sud.

Direzione Puglia.

Direzione Molfetta.

Il piano era semplice: prendere il treno da Roma, cambiare a Barletta e arrivare a destinazione senza particolari avventure.

Poi ho avuto una delle mie idee brillanti.

Il treno era in ritardo.

Noi avevamo sete.

Ho guardato Matt e ho detto:
