GENERAL CREMATORIUM WORKER
We are looking for an adaptable, personable and motivated person for an interesting and diverse part time role at Alford Crematorium.
There are three main elements to this role
All aspects of office work involved in the company’s business. These include taking reservations for services, any record keeping that is required including information relating to cremator performance, funeral records and general administrative duties.
Operating the cremator as and when necessary, becoming qualified to the ICCM Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme Intermediate + Certificate of Proficiency.
Grounds maintenance, to include operating a ride on lawn mower, a strimmer, hedge trimming, pruning and weeding, installing and maintaining memorials.
You will be required to interact with members of the public, to include helping at services, handling enquiries and assisting with ashes scatterings, memorial installations open days and meetings that may take place at, or relate to the crematorium.
You will also be required to assist with general cleaning duties.
This role may suit someone with experience in the funeral industry or from a grounds maintenance background. A positive, personable, practical and adaptable attitude and a willingness to learn are more important than previous experience. Full training can be given in any aspect of the role. You must be good at getting on with people, and a cheerful team player. You will be motivated, with a can-do attitude, good attention to detail and take a pride in your work. You must be reliable, a good timekeeper and behave in a professional and respectful way at all times, and a sense of humour is very welcome, where appropriate!
Regular hours will be 9am - 4pm on Thursday and Friday and 9.30am-12pm Saturdays. There will be an expectation that you will work additional days to cover holidays if required. If desired there is the opportunity of an additional day per week (from April to September) of grounds maintenance at Birdsong Green burial site and on the Well Vale Country Ride. Additional ad-hoc work is available supervising burials and ashes interments at the Burial Site, for the right candidate.
