Hello lovely people 💕

We're starting to get back on track with the eggs as our new girls start laying so you will start to see chicken eggs appearing in the box again 🐔.

Other than that we have the usual ducks eggs and lots of plants for sale!

Plants available all £1 per pot:

Hello lovely people 💕

Just a little apology from us as we know chicken eggs have been a bit scarce lately! Our girls simply haven’t been keeping up with demand and we’re so grateful for all the support and patience.

The good news is we’ve increased our flock, so once the new ladies settle in and start laying properly we should have a lot more stock available again soon 🥚🐓

We still have plenty of plants for sale but today we're showcasing our Sunviva vine tomatoes!

These are a yellow cherry that grow very tall but produce fruit late in the summer and keep going well in autumn.

£1 per plant and available in our honesty box 😉.

Grow With Sal...

🫵 Today I’m inviting you to “Grow with Sal” (its not about me wanting to be taller!) its a perfect time of year to start growing in our northern latitude...

👉 Come join me as I share with you how to start or improve growing your own veggies and fruits. If you’re like me, and learn best from ‘doing’, rather than watching/reading, or perhaps you have had some grow failures, or some happy accidents, but are still keen to get better chances of success.

🥕 It will be based about what I do at Rawnhallan Croft, we’ve been here 6 years now, but I have a back ground in doing all things growing, even as a child we had our own veggie patch for our family of 6. There have been many failures, some super wonky veg, but also some massive veg I had no idea I could grow! I am no expert, I just know from doing and failing, and happy to share this info if it will help others feel confident to start and make some progress, becoming a little more self sufficient and reliant, grow things to eat healthier and save some money, as nothing is getting cheaper!

🤓 There will be no judgments here about what you know or don’t, stupid questions are welcome. I’m full of them! We can get our hands dirty – but I can also provide gloves, or I can demonstrate.

🥗 Topics can include: sowing seeds, transplanting, planting, harvesting, eating, some preserving (I’d like to do more of this using different methods), seed saving, watering, feeding, bug control, etc

🫛 Join me through the season if you like, or for a few sessions to get you started. Now in May, is a good time as its warming up. You choose – I’ll share what I know, at your pace.

🌶 I don’t have any fancy equipment; I use what I find or what I have, or things going cheap. I’m lucky to have a polytunnel as well as a big area to grow, but we can discuss smaller scale and figure out what could work for you.

🧐 Interested ?? please just PM me to arrange a convenient time for us both. Suggesting donation of about ~£15 for around 1hr, you won’t go away empty handed either... Chance to see our wildflower meadows up close. I will have some plants, seedlings etc for sale too.

🤘 For adults - individuals, couples, friends and a child with an adult are welcome. I probably can only have 2-3 folk at a time.

Well spring hasn't been what we hoped for so far but from Monday we have some plants for sale! All plants are £1 a pot and so far we have:

Hello lovely people 🦆🥚

We’ve got duck eggs back in the honesty box at Hill Croft!

If you’ve never baked with duck eggs before, you’re missing a trick. They’re a bit richer than chicken eggs, which makes cakes lighter, sponges fluffier and pastries beautifully golden. They’re especially good in things like brownies, victoria sponge and homemade pasta where that extra richness really comes through.

We’ve had a few regulars tell us they won’t go back to chicken eggs for baking now… high praise indeed!

As always, they’re fresh from our ducks so just pop by the box. Thank you so much for the continued support, it honestly means a lot 💛
