A little mole poking its nose up in the garden — one of my favourite moments to catch.

An old photo, but a good reminder of what’s quietly happening below the surface. All that life in the soil, all the movement you don’t always see. One of the things I love most about growing organically — making space for wildlife and letting biodiversity thrive alongside the crops.

It’s all part of why I love working with nature and doing what I do 🌱

Packing up some beautiful Bocking 14 comfrey today — these ones are heading off for wildlife conservation work. We’ve already supplied the RSPB this season, along with plenty of organic growers, which feels pretty special.

Our comfrey is grown organically here at Ragmans, and every root cutting is hand‑prepared from strong, established plants.

Bocking 14 is a star: sterile, non‑invasive, and incredibly productive by year two. Great for mulch, compost, liquid feeds — and the pollinators love the flowers.

Cuttings are available March to early May, so if you’d like to book yours before the season ends, just get in touch.

First job of the day — prepping the spring onion bed ready for planting 🌱

A simple crop, but one that earns its place every year. Reliable, full of flavour, and always one of the first signs that the season is properly underway.

These are from last year’s harvest — grown organically, in healthy soil, and pulled fresh from the bed. Hoping for another good run this season and plenty more bunches to come.
